Hello all! I’m just another person joining the life style of the home grower. Since returning from Kalifornia in mid august with my eyes opened to serious pot growing, and serous smoke and serious money, and everything was positive! I hit the ground running when I got home… immediately I realized I LIVE A LONG WAY FROM KALI! There are no indoor garden store in the mid-size city I live in, smack dab in the Bible belt. So for the next few weeks. I piece by pieced, together all the things I would need to set up 1. Mother clone room and 2. Bud room 12/12. So after this time I had in my possession 8 4ft flo one warm (expensive) and cool (cheapo) in each fixture… and 3 of the 10 dollar specials that any wal-mart sells as Grow Lights.

This is around the time I started doing hardcore research on the net and came around this site and I like it the best. I‘ve watched tons of videos on you tube and on here. The green guy one, the curly headed dude that builds a freaking space ship of grow room in the attic. My fav though is the one that narrated step by step filmed on it looks like 32mm. anyhoo so I have a pretty good idea along with I learned in Kali on the direction I am going right now.

So I cram all the flo’s into a closet with a fan, thermometer/hygro, timer, and gallon jug of water acclimating to temp of the room. For my first grow I am growing “bag Seed” of you guessed it! The best “Mid” had at the time some dense light green stuff… really not important. So I germ… 9 have made it to date 4 weeks old now (pics soon)…

Now with that set up complete for the most part… I began searching the city for my main grow room and exhaust... had in mind at the time in getting a 250 watt CFL with a hood and a can active carbon filter system, and a small Co2 tank. The only problem is that where to get these items from? Not to mention the right soil and nutes… in which I had already found a brand call Earth Juice, and bags of worm castings and bat guano and different mixes from the local Co-Op so I was semi okay in that department. I finally came to the conclusion that instead getting the systems I needed through the mail (in which is something I strongly did not want to do) I would drive to the next closest major metro area and buy the systems there and import the items to my residence.

So the day before I was heading out to go get the lights and airflow... had gotten a lead via the internet and phone book to a store in the city just north of my city. It was worth a shot, so I drive up there and find it, ALAS! In the front window of the store they have a complete hydro system with MH’s burning away over some lettuce. I damned near crashed! I ran inside the store and right by the front door was a stack of Fox Farm Ocean (they have Light Warrior on special order for me now) and other high grade soils and the hydro stuff. Towards the back was the lights they had the CFL’s I wanted the cloning gels the airflow EVERYTHING!! And what they didn’t have they would order for me and they gave me a catalog. The whole experience was too much to absorb at one time and luckily I had moment of clarity and decided that now that I did not have to drive 6 hours RT my time table grew, so I decided to reformulate my plans.

through some relentless research and a mind set of I watt to do this whole grow thing right I decided to scrap the CFL option and go the seemingly “Big Leagues” and I bought and have in my possession a complete 400 watt HPS system with a digital ballast, and according to the store one of the best bulbs out there, whether it is or not I don’t care at this time cause it what I got and its bright as hell. So with some soil and other goodies I’m about 500 bucks in so far…

I still need some lumber 2x4s and either sheet rock or OSB, the zebra paper stuff, the canister filter, C02 system and finally a splurge item a 4 foot track for the light to maximize my light coverage. To save some cash up front I cut corners, I do. I got a gigantic Squirrel cage fan for free (pics soon) and I’m using the yeast Co2 generators.

I finally decided where to put the bud room, the attic was the first choice, I was planning on building I sizable box up there and insulating it pretty well. Until read the almanac and it says its going to be a verry cold winter this year, with that in mind the temps here get in to the teens but it’s a wet cold, unlike Colorado a dry cold it could be 10 degrees out and in the sunshine I could wear short sleeve shirts and be fine. So I don’t think the HPS could heat the room the best and do not want to spend extra on a space heater in wattage. I have perfect place now and I think I’ll be fine with root heating pads and insulated floors and it downstairs and convenient in a lockable room. Attic unlockable but no one goes up there, plus the light should be able to heat up my home at night saving some $$

I’m planning on 6pm to 6 am light on cycle so I can tinker with them when I’m home at night.

As you can hopefully tell I’m trying to do things right, and I am open to any suggestions. New with all that I have written up to this point brings up to speed with where I’m at in my growing experience. I do have some experience before doing this, and have been successful one time nothing to brag about and not a learning experience.

this first grow with bag seeds is my trail error run my goal is to successfully start a mother, clones, and female buds, as fast as this unknown strain will grow which is still pretty slow, Ideally every month to two months harvest. Once I get it down I will move on to real weed, in December I will be getting some White Rhino seeds and some White Rhino hybrid seeds with some other strain I don’t remember at the moment I think it’s a sativa. And I’m also looking into ordering some seed from an online source to separate address I have settled for the Super Silver Haze variety…

It seems like you really put in time and effort bro. Looks good and keep up the good work man.

Not trying to be a dick or anything, but perhaps you meant HPS? CFL is a compact fluorescent like those little pigtail curly looking fluorescent lights about the size of your fist and they don't typically use hoods (although you can for better lumen use). HPS is going to be your reddish spectrum bulb that puts out a lot more light and needs a ballast. Just thought I'd mention that before you go searching! Otherwise sounds pretty awesome man. If those bible thumpers give you any trouble just point them to Genesis!
