Question aquarium lights

last question for the night... from my fish aquarium i have a 110 watt (divided into 2 x 55 watt bulbs) 36" high output compact fluorescent strip lite 9325 degrees kelvin lamps ..the box describes them "super daylite" fresh and salt water color ....would these be good to start the plants off in doors..and if so how high above the seedling growth should the light be ..and if not good to use what type of bulbs should i get as the electronic ballast is in excellent condition...i looked at the faq and read several internet articles ,but don't get it ..sorry if i have missed the answer on the forum..many thanks

Those lights should work...maybe very well.

Definitely will put out some lumens.....

do you know if the fixture holds t8s or t5 bulbs

you say cfl and then say strip light...do the bulbs screw in or do they have two male prongs on each end that twist into socket

each bulb has the 2 male prongs not screw in

on the ballast can you see what bulb it accepts..maybe on the light?

you should see t8 , t5 , t12...these are all different styles

im guessing t5s from the 55w

reason for asked questions...if you can find a light with the same style in a 5000k , imo i would mix the two for veg

that ballast will only allow the light it calls for, all others will not work

They should be fine for early vegetative growth, you may need to add more lighting as the plants get bigger.

Keep them about 6 inches above the plant tops at the beginning and lower them to about 2-3 inches after about a week or so.
