these are safe and don't hurt there cycles? if so any old green bulb? just wondering.......

green light wouldn't have any effect on the plants as nearly all of it will be reflected. plants need red and blue light mainly.

But why you would want to look at your plants when there asleep? do you like being woken up in the night? even if it is with the light off..!!

Most green "party bulbs" will work fine for a safe-light but only if used for a very limited period of time. The green filters on most sucks and let enough light out that if close enough or left on long enough you could have issues. It would probably be best to use a green LED light, the spectrum is controlled and very specific... hmm maybe for my next project.......
