Noob tips: Mother plants

Hey guys,

Here is a cheap, simple yet very effective way to contain your mother plants and produce many shoots for cloning, quickly.

It's called "deep water culture"
What you will need :

(1) 3 gallon black bucket( this is for when the roots are still small, then I switch to 5 gallon after a few weeks)

(1)black 5 gallon bucket, (black,to block light so algae doesn't grow in the water)

(1)net pot insert, drill 1/4 inch hole in top for airhose.
-media (lava rocks or rockwool, perilte vermiculite etc.)
-fish tank air pump, tubing and air stone.
-Grow nutrients, enzymes suplement(optional but recommended)

Fill the net pot half way up with lava rocks, place your clone in the media, then cover the remainder of the plug that the clone sits in, up to the bottom of the stem.
Fill the nutrient mix up so that the clones roots stay wet but the water level doesn't reach the stem.
I use a 250 watt MH for 1 mother plant.
As the roots grow, they will adapt to living in water. The enzyme suplement will help break down dead rootmass and feed it to the plant.
As the roots out grow the 3 gallon move to the 5. Save the 3 gallon for future mother starts.
Change the nutrient mix every 7 days.
As the root s grow, make sure you keep an air pocket of about 4-6 inches at all times, as the roots will take in oxygen at this level.
Keep PH between 5.8-6.5 at 1000 ppm maximum strength
You're good to go...
Hope this helps
