I'm no electricain either so i'd maybe wait for someone more experenced to anwser. But if it's anything like wiring light holders to plugs then i can do that! It's easy basically there are 3 maybe 2 wires when strip the wire, a yellow and green one, a blue one and a brown one. Simple really you just wire the blue wire to the left side of your plug and the brown one to the right side of the plug then tape the yellow and green one up cos you don't need that one. Not sure if that is any help or not though!

Not sure about that to be honest, iu have mine all wired to there own serprate plug so don't have that problem. Have you thought about gettin a surge protected extension? I have all my lights plugged into one of those just in case but all has been fine so far, if the light fitting is desgined to hold three bulbs then i don't see why it should cause a fire though.

You could cut the plug (leave some wire) off some old, broken appliance. That cord would have 2 or 3 wires. Split, skin the ends, connect Black/red to black/red. Connect white to white. If there's a bare wire attached to the fixture, and a green/bare wire with the old plug, they'd go together.
Don't put your fingers in the empty sockets when you plug this in, first without the bulbs. to ensure you haven't nicked a wire, etc. and thus, have a dead short. If you plug it in uneventfully (as should be) you're all set. Always work on a dry surface when dealing w/electricity. You'd want those wires taped up well with something non-conductive, like black electrical tape, or other. I ooze a drop or two of super glue on the wire and allow it to dry, then tape. Lamp wire in the U.S. is 16/2 or 18/2.
14/2 is standard Romex used in home wiring for 15 amp circuits.
