Default earliest point at which light is needed?

Do you need light and moisture for a seed to sprout? Or just moisture? I have my seed in a ziploc bag with moist paper towels, but will it sprout without light?

yes it will pop with no light. but it will stretch and die if light is not introduced right after sprouting.

well a seed will sprout w/ just moisture but a lot of people use light to help a
