Default Guitar Equipment setup

I know this isn't a guitar forum, but there are so other players in the community that might be able to give me some suggestions.

My current gear:
Epiphone Les Paul
Boss sustain pedal
Boss overdrive/distortion pedal
Orange 30W combo amp w/ reverb

So a few months ago I got an Orange 30W Combo amp with reverb and I really can't complain about the natural tones you can achieve with this little amp. However, over the last week I've been looking to add a little more punch to this baby so I purchased a sustain pedal and an overdrive/distortion pedal. Now my question is, is it better to run the OD/DS through the amps' overdrive channel or should I use the OD/DS pedal only for clean channel? The tone seems a little muddy when using the overdrive channel and pedal, but without the overdrive channel and the pedal by itself this amp seems to lose its character as an Orange amp. And the sustain pedal I can't complain about. It does what it needs to either way.

Also, a question on the same lines. What is a good pedal order? guitar->sustain->OD/DS->amp? Or guitar->OD/DS->sustain->amp? Ive tried both ways and I can kind of hear a difference but I am not sure which is better/acceptable.

Guitar Equipment Setup

Guitar: Custom-build Stratocaster w/ Lace Sensor Gold pickups & a Semour Duncan Cool Rails in the Bridge.

Amp: Vox AC30 CC retro-fitted with 2 Celestion Vintage 30 speakers

Effects: Dunlop 60's Germanium Fuzzface, Solasound Tonebender MKII, Boss Superoverdrive, Boss 7-band EQ, Dunlop Cry Baby, Digitech Whammy,
Line 6 Echo Park (currently out of commission)

As for signal path, I recommend the following:

Guitar > OD > Sustain > amp

So you have a clean guitar signal, then dirty it up with some OD, and smooth it out with some sustain.

Plus, my vox is 2-channel and if I use my OD on the dirty channel I get more bite and a growling low end; Whereas if I use it in my clean channel it acts more as a distortion with a mid-range gain boost. So to answer your question, the placement of effects pedals and the channels in which you use them is all based on what you want to hear.

Im assuming because you bought an orange amp you love the crunch and bite of the Vox amps of the late 60s, which is what my amp recreates. So if you're going for that sound, use the OD in your dirty channel and adjust the dials on the pedal until you find that "sweet spot."

Yeah, the other day I just sat down and fleshed out all my options with various tones, channels and orders and i finally found one that I really like. I definitely ended up using the OD on the dirty channel to give it that crunch character I was looking for.
