As for signal path, I recommend the following:
Guitar > OD > Sustain > amp
So you have a clean guitar signal, then dirty it up with some OD, and smooth it out with some sustain.
Plus, my vox is 2-channel and if I use my OD on the dirty channel I get more bite and a growling low end; Whereas if I use it in my clean channel it acts more as a distortion with a mid-range gain boost. So to answer your question, the placement of effects pedals and the channels in which you use them is all based on what you want to hear.
Im assuming because you bought an orange amp you love the crunch and bite of the Vox amps of the late 60s, which is what my amp recreates. So if you're going for that sound, use the OD in your dirty channel and adjust the dials on the pedal until you find that "sweet spot." |
