I'm an avid musician. I played classical guitar for 10 years before I was introduced to blues. I also played double bass for 6 years in various chamber orchestras and symphonies. (I also play mandolin, banjo, violin...pretty much anything with strings) Recently though (6 months?) I was introduced to the blues by my father who is a professional folk musician.
The problem I have is I only know classical musicians, not many rockers. So I got my buddie who can play a little guitar to strum some chords, I set up my dad's microphones and recorded a little jam session with 3 short songs I had written. We posted them on Myspace and now I'm using it as a kind of reference to my music. I'm searching around the city for musicians (So far I have my two friends, one of which is a very talented singer and my other friend who is an amazing bassist) but it's difficult to find a drummer. My plan is to meet some musicians, give them the site. They can have a listen, if they enjoy it then I would arrange a jam. Basically the advice I need is: "What's the best way to go about meeting musicians who 'rock' that I haven't known since childhood?" Also, here is the myspace; MySpace.com - Cult of Two - CA - Blues / Rock / Funk - www.myspace.com/cultoftwo Feel free to slander or worship it, any suggestions would be nice. I am only 18, so...plenty of time to improve. |
