So I am officially at the 1 month mark on my vegging plants and I believe I am beginning to see some pre-flowers on a few plants. I have a couple suspected males but it's too early to be certain so I will wait another day or two so I don't unknowingly kill off any females.

I upgraded my inline fan yesterday to 400CFM hydrofarm active air which rocks. My max temps only reach 86 now and I had a low last night of 74...fucking awesome. I still have my old 197CFM inline fan I think I will just suspend under the canopy to circulate air thoroughly....jonny don't like mold and will not have it.

I did get raped on the price of my inline fan by about $40 at the hydro shop but I needed it ASAP and I like the shop I go to so I didn't haggle on this one but for future purchases, me and the sales guy are gonna negotiate on prices for bigger items. They mark shit up like 200% at those places but when ya need something in a hurry, whatch'ya gon do?

As you can see in the pics, the 2 on the left are my stragglers. 1 might have some kind of disease b/c it's all fucked up with stunted growth and shriveling leaves and the other is just not taking off with some minor leaf issues. I'm definitely killing off the 1 but the other one I'm gonna wait and see how things turn out.

Looks good Jonny. I get cranky needed to buy equipment from a hydro store, too. You know you can buy a better one online, cheaper. lol. At least if it breaks down, you can have a new one that afternoon.

Ok so I killed the one off and inspected the root system and it appears they're ready for their new 3 gallon homes. The one I killed was the smallest and the roots had solidly established around the bottom of the pot. I think I will transplant tomorrow into some more happy frog and then in a week or so they go into flower. I will then transfer to 5 gallon pots after 1-2 weeks of flower.

I know I got raped. I checked the online prices when I got home and I overpaid by $40 but like ya said, if the fan burns out...ya get a new one that day so all is well. I'll get those fuckers on the next purchase b/c I will be price matching the shit out of them on my carbon filter.

BTW, this fan is a bit loud. Moves some major air but it could be a little quieter.

Shit....that just ruined my party plans. Will I be ok taking 3 gallon pots all the way through flower? That just sounds like too small a pot to me. I think what I'm going to do is just continue my veg for another 3 weeks and transplant again in 1 week. I noticed how quickly growth exploded when I got them out of the party cups and into the 1 gallon containers and I don't want to starve them of space in 3 gallon containers when they're trying to spread their wings during flower.

I'm a newbie though so I will head the advice of the pro's here....if 3 gallon isn't going to fuck me then I'll use 3's but 5 seems soo much more appropriate....lemme know y'all. Jonny is really on the fence on this one.

just go from the 1s to the 5s and rock on....
I like that advice but I already got the 3's so In the go but they will wind up in 5's. In the future, I will eliminate the 3's as they're just not necessary. Instead of going into party cups on the first pot, I will go into 1 gallons. The party cups are just a pain in the ass. I can understand using them if you are responsible for 40+ plants but for a person like me with only 12, 1 gallon pots are ideal. It's just added nonsense to have to transfer from party cups to 1 gallons when you could just start with the 1's. Rookie mistake...whatch'ya gonna do? Move on...

Anyhow, the go into 3 gallon containers tonight and I'm looking forward to this quite a bit b/c they blew up when I got 'em in the 1 gallon containers and I think they'll really begin to spread out thick and tall with the 3's. Hopefully I can eliminate the suspected males in the next week so that I can lower my count here and spread them out with some 5 gallon pots. Hoping for at least 4 females in 5 gallon containers....keeping my fingers crossed

You aren't scoring the root ball when you transplant, are you? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. Transplant those puppies, give them a few days, then flip them to flower. Minor stress, if any at all. What would REALLY stress your plants is leaving them in an insufficient container and allowing them to get root-bound half way through flower!

Those were my thoughts, EXACTLY! Thank you for the reassurance. When I had my babies cooped up in those little party cups, growth was super slow, but when I got them into the 1 gallon containers, they blew up. I do not score the root ball when I transplant...not sure what that's all about but I'm a simple individual. I just popped 'em into bigger containers and filled new dirt around them then watered thoroughly. I transplanted just in time today also b/c they were all root bound so great timing today...I will give them another week and a half or so in veg and then I will put them into 5 gallon containers.

I'm hoping at that point, I will have enough developed preflowers to determine which are males and female so I can kill off a couple to free up space for the 5 gallon containers. I really only have space for 4-5 MAX. 4 Would truly be ideal but I'm willing to squeeze 5 in there if I only get 2 males....time will tell.

I've got 1 straggler in there that just smells too damn good to kill off and I'm really hoping it turns female. I do believe it's from the vortex batch...absolutely incredible smell and nice buzz from that strain. Would love to wind up with a couple ounces of that!

intake flow-

is being restricted by the severe bend in your flex tube. consider using a rigid 90* elbow as the flow significantly more. cheap galvanized at any hardware store.

Right on thanks murfy. Eventually I'm gonna just hook up my 197CFM inline fan supporting the flow of intake and I'm going to limit the intake to that one hole where the fan is hooked up with a sock filter covering the ducting going to the inline to keep crap out. I think that will give me beautiful airflow through the tent. It sure takes a lot of water to hose down 7 3 gallon pots. I didn't have enough water sitting out so I had to run to the store and pickup a couple jugs of distilled. Got 'er done though.

Anyhow, unless something stupid happens, I'll update again in a couple days and hopefully growth will start exploding again.

Scoring the root ball is done by taking a knife/razor and making vertical slices (no more than an inch or so deep) in to the root ball from top to bottom. 3-4 slices around the perimeter. This opens up the root ball and induces new root growth when repotting in to a larger container. Some people call it upcanning.

Your babies look really nice! The runt looks like it could be a little moisture stressed. I get one out of a batch every so often that looks like that, and it's usually due to me not letting the soil sufficiently dry out before watering again. Maybe try skipping it next watering and see how it responds. Just a thought.

I like that advice stow and I think you're actually on to something b/c the only thing I can make of it is too much water. Drooping leaves and such....I'll let her dry out real well before the next watering.

It looks like my plants will only get 2 feedings in the veg cycle and it looks like that's really all they needed. I think the fools using these complicated 10 part nutrient kits are just dumb b/c I have 1 bottle of nutes I've used only 2 times @ 40%. That tells me, nute companies are full of fucking shit when it comes to growing...I plan to defy logic and use jack's classic for flowering to further prove m point. I want to show all the AN and CANNA fan boys that they're getting raped.

I do 1x/week since about a week ago and they're just past 1 month now...within 1 week, I do think I want to transplant to 5 gallon containers. It will be tight but it will fit. I do not want my babies being stressed in the middle of flower due to pot size....very stupid mistake to make for the little cost it takes to correct it. Mucho gracias for the advice bro
