    Default white widows??????????????

Just got back from Canada and my sister had a bag waiting for me. smelled great tasted pretty good and hit alright enough. I asked what strain it was and once I got home to the US I had my answer; white widow. I grow nirvana's white widow all the time, it's my daytime get-shit-done favorite. I picked the most up sativa pheno of the 20 seeds I got and popped. point of this all is that I never in a million would have guessed it was a strain I curently grow, anyone have any similar experience? smoked this "new shit" and find out it's old old old but way different? I heard white widow is like that cuz everyone (seed companies) has one and they are all a little different, thoughts, experiences, comments?

Yup..happens all the time. "the hand of the grower" can play a huge part in how the strain comes out. the sativa I grow is grown by a couple other guys. It comes out good for them, but mine is way different than theirs. Same strain, but mine is totally organic, gets more light, and just plain tastes, and smells better and is way more potent.

Indeed, hand of the grower plays a big part..for better or worse.

of course there is that but I think it's uniformity and stability more so. If it was a clone, I'd make that distinction right off and feel correct. this is so differnt though from the shape of the bids to the density and flavor; hell everything was completely different. I can't believe it's all the hand of the grower. I wonder is there any kind of uniformity at all in the seed industry?

I also grew this out and didn't think anything about it. Discontinued it and Belle just about kicked my ass. I had know idea it was that medicinal. She said she liked it, but honestly she has said that about most of what we have grown. Long story short I ordered another pack of GreenhouseWW. but I also researched and bought a pack of Mr. Nice seeds Black Widow. It was about $150 for I think 18 seeds. This is supposed to be the original white widow, the bomb ass white widow, and the stable strain of white widow. I have them going, I will search out a mother and run that shit forever. lol. I bought another pack of GHS cuz she loved it and if she doesn't like the Black, then I fucked up by not listening. So I did it here way, cuz it's cheap, and I am doing it my way also, cuz that is what i do.
As medicinal as this is, and most people I know won't spend $150 on a strain that can be purchased for $35. I will probably find the right momma and give away hundreds of clones of the Black Widow. I will make sure that I get you a few. You have my word.

The original breeder of WW rereleased the strain as black widow pure.

It could certainly be a different phenotype. Buddy of mine is getting ready to harvest 12 Jack Herrer plants from seed. He has 4 distinct phenos in the bunch, from big leaf Indica looking plants, to thin, sparsely leaved sativa looking plants. Different look and smell.

So it certainly could be the "variety" that occurs in a strain.

variety, I like that LOL. much better then say half-assed in selecting for uniformity. I've yet to do a side by side with another grower yet but I do have plans to for some of that train wreck. Can't wait to see clone comparison with any other grower. I feel like "variety" is alot more a factor but I won't deny the growers hand at all. P.s. snuck some seeds from the Canadian strain to grow out and compare. what a crossing at the border! LOL got em though John Q Law!!!!!!!!!!!

Most seed strains have many phenos, or 'variety". takes all kinds of back crossing to stabilize a strain. Light of Jah is a good example...it's simply a stabilized Jack Hereer pheno, that is very sativa leaning.

Hereer is one of the worst. I think there are 6 total phenos, only one of which produces the "cannabis cup" winning stuff everyone is looking for. Not only do you have to get lucky enough to get a female of that pheno in your pack of seeds, you have to identify it correctly as well.

But to sum up what you are saying, it's true that just because you buy a pack of seeds, it dosen't mean you get what you are looking for.

Kinda like buying a pack of base ball cards...your looking for the rookie foil card..not the commons...
