I use a T5 2 bulb florecent fixture I grow in 6" pots filled with Groden grow cubes, my pots sit in a plstic tray with bulkhead fitting alowing for drainage I us GH Flora 3 part nutes ( Grow, Bloom, Micro )
My system is basically and ebb and flow but no pumps, I just feed my plants as I would feed any household plant in potting soil from a 1 gal milk carton. 3 to 4 times a day I can grow 3 to 4 plants under this system as long as I keep them short Indica, indica/sativa hybrid.

    Light fixture $80 to $100
    6500K bulbs comes with fixture
    3000K bulb for flowering 2X $20
    Nutrients $30-$40 ( 3 qts one of each )
    Small fan $20
PH up, down I buy from pool supply store $20

of course price depends on where you buy but this should give you a good start.

As you stated Mother nature does all the rest as long as you have good circulation and maintain Ph ( abt 5.8 ) I don't actually have a grow room or tent I just handle them as I would any house plant this is my second under T5's so I ca'nt tell you my yield yet I had 2 plants, one was a male so I had to dump the girl looks great it looks like I might get a good Z or more
Good luck in your endeavers..........KEEP ON GROWIND

I got my grow on, for less then $400, but if you want that stealth grow, I can see it no more then $200, if you can find some stuff to use around the house too.

    Could use T5s and CFLs.

If this is for personal use, you won't need to grow 12 plants. One in veg and one in flower will be more than enough if you know what you're doing.

KISS for sure. can't buy experience and it really all comes down to that sweat equity and learning curve the least mentioned and most costly ingredients.

$20 for pH up seems a little expensive but anyway...you can buy used what you can...

I have 2 4ftx2ftx5ft tents one with a 400w MH and one with a 400w CMH...the flower tent with the CMH has a scrubber and more fans than the veg tent...the veg tent just has a 20 inch box fan in it...lol. but it works so, whateva...and for nutes most of what I use is freebies from one company or other...little harder to figure up dosages that way though..
I apologize for my incessant rambling, but if you are patient there is inner hidden wisdom in most of my posts...Like playing literary "Where's Waldo."--------------- See, it's fun!

I'd love to use a closet but my grow has to be stealth so enclosed environment with a carbon scrubber is a must which is why I think the tent will be my best bet.

Yup yup, definitely just for personal. I'm probably shooting for 4 plants total in the largest pots I can fit in the base of my tent. I'll start with 12 in some party cups and then eliminate the males and under performers which should get me to or near 4 to put into flower. In a perfect world I'd have room (and $$) for a dedicated veg / mother tent but I think the 1 tent is gonna consume quite a bit of funds as I want 2 inline fans working together to cool the hood and circulate air through the tent so add on an extra $150 for that. The reason I want 2 inlines btw is in case 1 fails when I'm not home, I don't want to come home to scorched plants or worse. Another little gadget I plan to purchase as a safety device is an emergency shutoff switch that kills power to your light in the event temps raise above a certain pre-set temperature so your place doesn't burn down if your inline fails, the lights just shut off. I think that little upgrade will run me about $80 if I remember right.

I think I can put together a solid stealth tent with good equipment for under $700. I'd love to make an entire grow room but that's not an option for my situation. And anything over $3000 is really getting into commercial growing in my opinion. I'm just trying to grow some good quality meds without breaking the bank. I've got a lot to learn so I'm sure I'll continue to add goodies to my tent as time goes on.

Well I've got a shoestring so I'm halfway there!

That would be a great setup for the amount of room I have. How much did the tent that size set ya back?
