    Hey fella
Thanks for the props. Really glad you got something out of the journal.
The filter is as you describe, cut to size 3/4 inch bigger all around than the fan. Use some string or elastic to hold it snug over the fan. I use a single layer and it's enough to hide the odour and most of the light. Don't try it with very smelly strains though.
The white tube is a remote temp/humidity probe that sends to an external monitor so I can tell what's going on without opening the door. They are called wireless weather stations and are most useful.
CFL's do have probs with penetration so sidelighting is very beneficial, but in enclosed grows it could cost more space than it yields in extra growth so it's a tough call wether to use lots of small bulbs or a mofo overhead with plenty of mylar. A single bulb makes wiring easy so that's what swung it for me
Just holler if you think I can help with anything else and let me know if you get a journal started. It would be good to compare notes.

    hey fellow grower!!

just wanted to stop by and tell you that I found your perpetual lst micro pc grow very inspirational as it is almost exactly the next grow I intend to implement myself! I think we are in similar situations as far as stealth being a necessity.

would you mind answering a few questions I have?

I would like to know how you keep your odor down, I believe I saw a stove overhead carbon filter? Did you just cut it to size and allow your fan to pull air through a single layer of the filter?

    - Also I noticed a white cylinder on the main "Flowering" end of your grow box (the front of the PC), is this a fan or an odor control device? ..just an observation I was curious about.

Also would you suggest multiple small size/wattage cfl bulbs as compared to your single 125 watt 2700K? (I believe that was the wattage)

    - I will also be supplementing with 10-15% 6500K as you said you noticed improved overall health with it.

Hope you can find some time to reply =D

I'm pretty sure it would be the same thing. Check that it's good for horticultural use and you should be good to go if it's 2mm.

    yo V,
does polycarbonate have another name or is the same as plexi glass?

Sounds like you got it all in hand. Keep us posted.
Might be worth using 2mm polycarbonate sheeting instead of glass tho. CFL's kick out a little UV which is really beneficial and the polycarb will let it through but glass will block it.
All is good here bud. Same back.

sweet, ive got a normal porcalyn socket and an adaptor that takes a mogul base, with the 125 w bulb its off center in the case and a little long. so i went to home depot and got a 100 w daylight bulb that is shorter. i'll take pics of everything and put them in the journal i had going. the refloctor is a good idea but i'm gunna line the inside with mylar so i don't think its to necessary. i'm also thinking of mounting a pane of glass beneath the bulb to work like a heat shield, but that won't be for a week, unless i get real high and motivated this weekend lol.
peace bro hope all is well.

    Hey Crazytrain
Grats again on a great 1st grow m8. A 125w will make it even better for sure
I just glued a reflector with a fitted bulb socket to the top of my case. The envirolites use an e40 socket just like MH/HPS bulbs, so I got a normal hps reflector and cut the wings down a little so it would fit widthways.
The top fan is a cute idea and should work wonders for temps, but it might be tough to do it with a reflector, especially if it's fitted permanently like mine.
I guess if I was to do it I would locate the top fan hole near the other exhaust fans and above the ballast of the bulb. That shouldn't affect the current airflow but it would eliminate the main source of heat. I'd just need to cut away the reflector from that area so it fitted inside the case and lightproof with carbon foam.
I've seen some cheap reflectors with a kind of vent in the top that could work too. I'll try and find a pic.
