I'm new to this, (the site and growing).
I would hope that I understand how an average plant is react in certain instances; i.e. overnurished, undernurished, drying out, etc. Basically everything that was taught to me by my great aunt who hasn't worn shoes since the 60's. She did have a special section of her garden that was off limits to me, now I think I have a pretty good idea what she was growin'.
Now I take that knowledge, combine it with my husband's know how of growing pot plants in soil. Now he learned what he knows from a vietnam vet/audio tech guru/hippie of a father. My husband was able to tell me what to look for in cannabis plants. How to tell if they are male or female, what the stages are (vaguely) for vegetative and flowering, etc.
