I checked that out - still don't see the economic nor practical value not to mention questionable spectral characteristic....
You came here talking about LED on non LED question - I just followed suit
I agree that biggest problem with single lamp + reflector is light uniformity in the grow space / room.
So next growroom I will try to implement this:
http://gavita-holland.com/index.php/documentation-a-downloads/whitepapers/item/optimal-light-calculation.html
the 5.5 x 3.6m room - in other...
http://www.gavita-holland.com/index.php/products/lamps/item/gavita-pro-plus-1000w-el-de.html
That is a Philips lamp (Gavita rebrands them) so its 2.1 PPF/"W" - there is reflector loss but lamp has 2100 PPF in a sphere...
I never said nothing about spectrum of the light nor on area that that...
Last few days I'm thinking if I was maybe using "wrong" light for rooting and thinking how to improve energy efficiency in VEG/CLO room.
This is what I am using now: Osram T8 so called flora "color 77" but the 1.2m one that is 36W
There are 90 clones under one light in a 5 x 18 layout.
I...

But - sadly there is no graphical datasheet like this:
As you can see - my pump the 1200 model "stops" working @ about 1.5m
I think you are fine with that pump - I run 1600L/h that is about 450 GPH...
You need to consider height of the pump - in other words - the pump loses it flow the higher the tube of pumped solution.
My pump is 1.45m max height but even at about 80 cm the flow is about 50% less than "horizontal...
One thing I noticed - I run 4 different strains in the same object (at the moment the dehumidifier wasn't working and RH was around 60-80%):
One (1) had a lot of PM - deep in bud PM (probably the first that spawned a breeding ground for the rest)
One (2) had none PM (same system they are...
Mine 2 week VEG and AFTER HARVEST (11 weeks) their root is about 3-5x bigger than your second picture. But the beauty of DWC is - it doesn't matter - no nut or oxygen deficiency...
The nutrient solution goes through roots - i don't see a problem there
I do SOG and only veg for a 1-2 week after rooting - the root mass is big but nothing special. The plants are about 1.0 - 1.2m and yield about 25-30g dry per plant. (the tubes are 11 cm diameter and dam is about 7cm high.
Maybe you veg more...
@ruwtz
I like you scientific approach, I hope to see some well documented results one day from you.
On side note - as I said before - after switching from Liquid to Dry (salt) nutrients my reservation change price fell from 10-13€/change to 1€/change and the ratios are great vs bad.
I have them only 5-15 days in veg so i go with Haifa Poly-Feed GG @ around 1.5 EC
http://www.haifa-group.com/products/plant_nutrition/water_soluble_fertilizers/poly_feed_gg/
It's enough (in my opinion) for such a short period. I have few formulas - tried switching - same results.
Some call it High Flow Deep Water Culture (I like that name more).
The solution is only aerated on the waterfall of dam and little waterfall back to reservoir - no air pumps or anything....
I'm hoping to buy a Dissolved Oxygen meter and ORP meter to see if a "small dam" is good enough to keep...
Don't use vinegar or citric acid to stabilize your PH - they are weak acids and break easily so you need to re-adjust it very soon.
Add Phosphoric, Nitric or Sulfuric acid to lower and stabilize PH.
Just remember that these acids have "plant food" in them so they will change your "npk ratio"...
I'll continue and hope people will follow suit and copy/paste the table at the start of this topic and just fill the numbers:
Strain (length in weeks): JH Hybrid (11w)
Time in VEG (after rooting): 1w
Max size in VEG (right before flowering): 15-20cm
Growing space (size): 4 levels of tube x 22...
That what are you saying - nutrient/oxygen deficiency is quite common in NFT.
Try this (i do it) build a dam on the end of the system - something like this:
You can build it by welding or gluing it to a small section of a tube that can be rotated later so you can drain your system. (if you...
