Hhhmmm, maybe it's powdery mildew. Do you have a thread with pics I could see? That may help.

It sounds like you may have a mite problem. Do a quick search on neem oil.

THC888, You can usually spot little eggs under the fan leaves. Then the outbreak starts, the flies are in the soil and leaves they are small and white and hard to rid from your garden.
