On one of these plants, a few colas decided to split into two all on their own. The plant was fimmed at very early age (two weeks into veg.). The plant is about two and a half weeks into flowering. Is this normal?

Usually the leaves start falling off in the later stages of the flowering phase. The begin to turn yellow as the plant "steals" the energy from the leaves and puts it into the buds. Then the yellow leaves usually fall off after a while.

Make blender hash out of it. It's easy and it works. You can find directions on how to do this on the internet.

Yes, there's a fan blowing gently over it. But yesterday the branches were perfectly erect.
