All COB Users - Lettuce Grow Challenge!!

I was looking into growing hemp and looked like the money is growing seed for crops. I was curious how they make sure the hemp isn't contaminated with a thc strain that somebody has thrown out somewhere to grow. Because out here I'm sure people put out seeds or seedlings along creeks or what not...

All COB Users - Lettuce Grow Challenge!!

It's not legal here but I think hemp is or will be soon. I haven't looked into the law and how they will know not to raid people growing hemp or how they tell it doesn't have thc. Anyways as it's a filter for a big fish tank I I'm just looking to soak up nitrogen and don't want to go with...

All COB Users - Lettuce Grow Challenge!!

Earlier I read a study done with basil that if there wasn't enough blue light the plants wouldn't transpire enough and would blister and I believe that lack of transpiration can be a cause of tip burn. Unfortunately my growing knowledge hasn't been used in a few years ago I've forgotten or...

@OneHitDone how many hours did you run the lights? "The formula for calculating DLI is: μmol m-2s-1 (or PPFD) x (3600 x photoperiod) / 1,000,000 = DLI (or moles/m2/day)" DLI Butterhead lettuce 14-16 The total output listed on that lamp is 152 PPFD but doesn't say at what height. Even if...

    LEDs for lettuce and microgreens

I've been wondering about growing a large / tall living tropical vivarium with leds. Somewhere between 6-8 foot tall. Also looking to light a desert vivarium with them. Too bad don't have uva and uvb for reptiles. The uv levels of fluorescents fall off in very short distance.

    LEDs for lettuce and microgreens

My room has climbed up to 84 degrees. The lights have been on 24/7 all this time. The 6" x 2" heat sinks are warm to touch and don't want to leave your hand there too long. Probably want bigger heat sinks for constant running, maybe even part time.

    LEDs for lettuce and microgreens

The room ambient is 78 or so average. I had the leds sitting right on the humidity domes. Didn't melt the plastic but did increase condensate where the lights didn't shine. Anyway didn't get good light spread/coverage so I put them the lowest I could on the chains. Not sure how much light the...

    LEDs for lettuce and microgreens

It'll do well for veg I'm sure. I'm putting it to to start peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, ect. After seed starting season I will test it on growing lettuce to replace my fluorescent lights. Plan to have it cover a 2x4 area and see how that goes. Roughly $90 in parts. 64 watts. Hoping it can...
