I have advanced led ds xml 350 and I LOVE IT! I've used HID and this light has given me the best results thus far. It is pricey, but worth it.

The packaging on hot shots says don't be exposed to the strip for more than 4 hours. If he has it in his bedroom, I wouldn't use the pest strips. I had mites once. I trashed all my plants and bombed with Dr. Doom. I only grow from seeds now. Haven't had any problems with them since.

I had a similar configuration. My exhaust fan with filter was ducted through the top of the tent. I added a 6" clip fan to blow over my canopy and a little 65 cfm inline fan that pulled in cooler air through a lower vent and was ducted toward the bottom of the tent. I never had any heat issues...

I don't know about the big one but the little ones sound like fungus gnats...i sprinkle cinnamon on top of the soil after I water...others like to use about an inch of sand on top of the soil...I have also used 15 ml of Azamax to 32 oz of h20 and sprayed the top of soil.
