i agree with T8 as far as soil goes. for a beginner hydro can be a disaster .. if you make a mistake in mixing your nutes the plants are dead within the day. with soil you have somewhat of a buffer zone and as soon as you start seeing a problem you have a day or 2 to decide on the fix . ie...
