    after a lot of debate i decided to get the onyx 8 + 20 version because it'll be easier than DIY and its pretty close to the spectrum i want. it has 8 of the 6500k and 20 of the 2700k. should be enough blue for veg i think. for $400 i couldve DIY a more powerful light or couldve went down the cob...

    from what i know you can save probably around $100 or more per fixture if you decide to DIY depending on who you purchase the light from. some of the better premade units are by Area 51, RapidLED, BML horticulture, lumigrow, bonasiahero / hans, and Advanced. from my understanding the more watts...

    thanks for the feedback. i'm looking into the COBs now and see you get a lot more lumens for your money. one reason i was satisfied with a DIY from rapidLED is because the LEDs are all mounted and solderless. is it difficult to DIY otherwise? it would be my first time also what ratio would you...

    on second thought i can just make my own light with the LEDs listed below. it came out to be $410 for everything i would need from rapid LED. i think the spectrum would be good for both veg and flowering. what do you guys think?

    i think i settled on the onyx bloom but im not sure how well it will veg. the rw-150 has a mixture of both blue and red spectrums but the onyx bloom is cheaper and has more watts. any advice if im only going to buy one light for the full cycle?
