Ok so for better results MH is needed for veg. I have also seen HPS bulbs that are more blue and white. Are these any good?

I bought my first HPS system and the balast came with a lamp that says Flower Spectre HPS 250W (from GIB lighting). Is the lamp for the flowering stage of my plants only? Do I have to buy also a lamp for the veg stage? Thanks
