I recently increased CO2 to 800 ppm. I've used much higher levels in the past, but this time, an apparent magnesium deficiency developed almost immediately. My first theory was the increased transpiration caused the plant to pull up a nutrient that blocked the magnesium. But magnesium is...
I totally agree. I meant to say that we are doing the test with plants. We are staring at the end of February with 2 4x4s (one test, one control group). Thanks again for your help.
I'm about to run some test to try to understand profitability of following a more traditional transplanting process, versus just putting clones directly into 3 gallon pots. So I'm trying to anticipate the factors impacting the relative differences in profitability between the two strategies...
I'm sure someone has asked this question before but I can't find the thread. I've found research (this for example: https://horttech.ashspublications.org/content/8/4/495.short) that shows that using pots that are too small hurts plant health (depending on the plant). But I have not found...
The reason I'm asking is that, I think, the shorter the veg period relative to the flower period, the higher the percentage of total space that can be continuously used for the flower period, thus increasing yields/day - holding total space constant.
Tell me if this doesn't make sense, but...
So is it right to say that the tradeoff with SOG is that the shorter veg time reduces yield per plant by some %, but that loss is offset by a shorter harvest cycle and, maybe, each plant having a higher yield as a percentage of the total volume of the plant (because of the more uniform light...
Does anyone have any insights or references related to impact of the relative length of the veg period on the final $/sqft of a harvest?
For instance, suppose the harvest cycle for a particular strain lasts 12 weeks, and the recommended veg period were 4 weeks. I could reduced the veg period...
As the length of the flowering period increases, the high gets less cerebral and becomes more of a body high. If you believe that is true, then what mechanism is causing that? For instance, I've heard the explanation that as the flowering period increases in length, the THC:CBD ratio decreases...
Would anyone mind sharing experiences they have had with trying to either reduce the length of their harvest cycle or increase yields by increasing light intensity? The reason I ask is that we are designing an experiment where we increase yields or decrease harvest time with increased light...
So you would potentially fill a room with lots of different modules. The hope would be that the gains from reducing the square footage that you need cool or heat, plus potential gains in quality from more precisely controling the climate of each plant, would compensate for the additional cost...
I often hear from growers that if a grow room becomes too small or too large climate control becomes less efficient. This is a separate issue from the potential cost of a pest or mold outbreak increases with room size. For instance, one grower told me that when the room gets relatively small...
So are you saying that how much the plant stretches is mostly about how much the root mass develops during vegging. In other words, holding everything else (light, genetics, temp...) fixed, if I do something that increases root mass the plant will respond by stretching more after switching to...
Thanks. I'm wondering if the plant has something like a window of time when it will grow the most after switching to flowering. If you switch to flower before or after that window the plant has a lower capacity to stretch, which is consistent with your experience. I'm a professor at Universite...
