    Quantum Boards Grow

I feel that. Yeah, without the extender the effective focal length was 640mm, with the extender it became 896mm. Crazy. Needless to say I didn't use the extender much. I'm using all-white components on the plant-facing side of the quantum lights I'm building, save for some orange-yellow...

    Quantum Boards Grow

Yeah it yielded some awesome night sky shots up in the Cascades. I had the opportunity to use the 100-400 L IS II USM (with a 1.4x extender) in Tanzania. Phenomenal. I was paranoid about such an expensive rental, but it was worth it. Edit: and challenging, really. All I have on hand is an...

    Quantum Boards Grow

I really do need to get a fast, wide prime like that. I used to have a Sigma 8mm fisheye, that thing gave great night sky shots after a slight lens correction. Better believe I'll break out the DSLR once the QB's get here. I'll have things to share.

Demonstrating a proficiency in photography, no less. Love me some cannabis depth of field. The second-to-last photo is the real sea of green... :bigjoint:

    DIY with Quantum Boards

A shorter internodal length, in theory. YMMV. Many other significant factors. Look at the spectrum comparison threads, there are photos of (e.g.) 3000k vs 5600k veg/flower results. If you're really limited on vertical space, I'd certainly recommend a 4000k-5000k light and LST or low-scrog to...

    cree xpe-e

Read the far-red thread that CobKits linked. As I see it, the fundamentals of supplementals are simple: 1. At most a few watts per square foot. 2. Even distribution is critical. My suggestion? Grab a 2" or 3" heatsink from HeatsinkUSA at the length of your growspace; at every foot place a...

    DIY with Quantum Boards

Same here. I've ordered 2700K (288's), hoping to swoop 3000K instead. I may or may not have been distracted by videogames when they went for sale... I have eight boards to use at 1400mA in a 4x4' or 5x5' area. If I mount them on a 24"x32" aluminum plate 3ft(?) above the center of the canopy...

    2530 vs 3590 in a 4x4

Much appreciated; yeah, I'm probably going to run with six at 1400 or eight at 1050.

    2530 vs 3590 in a 4x4

A big aluminum square plate. How thick? Don't know. 1/8"? Something like that. Four 50 CFM fans dumping air on the center of the top of the plate. An eyebolt in each corner for suspension, and a plastic sheet above the metal one to enclose the electrical. Is 8x QB288 at 1400mA overkill...

    2530 vs 3590 in a 4x4

No worries, I've been jotting down COB arrangement sketches all week. Appreciate the response. I have HLG's quantum boards written down as an alternative to the 2530's... maybe I should take a closer look at them as well.

    2530 vs 3590 in a 4x4

    You're given a four-foot-square grow area. Select your build: Build #1 — 12 x CXB3590 3000k 90cri 3 x HLG-185H-C1400B 1400mA, ~56.4%, ~330PARW, ~21 PARW/sqft, ~$765 Build #2 — 32 x CXB2530 3000k 90cri 4 x HLG-185H-C700B 700mA, ~49.1%, ~383PARW, ~24 PARW/sqft, ~$775 I feel like you guys will...

Anyone looking for big passive single-COB heatsinks?

I have ten SimpoLED-160150 heatsinks that I no longer need, but I could really use more funds for the lights I'm currently building. Retail is listed $33.50 a piece, and they cost me around $40 after fees and HK shipping. I'd like to make some money back towards my current builds, so maybe $30...

    Light design issues

After an unexpectedly busy summer, I've been able to devote the last two months to completing my light designs. Having a 3D printer has helped, but there are a few things left to nail down. As soon as I finish building these lights, I can show you guys what's really special about them...

    Lets Build A New Light

I second the call for a parts list... I've been looking for an affordable (read: not shipped from HK) source for smaller pin fin-style heatsinks. Nice driver, too. The HLG-240's and 320's certainly are useful.
