I change my rez once a week, and am using distilled water. a gallon from walmart is .88.

Hmm. Ok so can the water be tool cold? I know 68 is the goal but what if it was lower?

You need a TDS meter. I got one from my local hydro store for $20. It proved to me that brita tap filters dont do much. my water went from 150ppm to 105 with one.

Roots are getting a little brown, but it rinses off in water. Maybe a little algae. Im going to try a little H2o2 and see if it helps. Also drained and filled tanke yesterday, and moved up to 50% nutes. Everything is looking good besides the brown.

Yeah, thats what I was going to do, but then I read all kinds of stuff telling me to only use at least 15% food grade. But you have 3700 posts, so I'll take your advice.

Thanks Ill try it! Would keeping the water moving with a better pump of a circulation pump help at all? Would it be beneficial in any other way?

I am currently running a Top-Fin AIR3000 dual outlet fishtank pump to a 10 gal bin, with 5.5 gal of water. I started getting a little root browning, and I have no way of keeping the temperature any lower. Im only running a 2' 4 bulb t5, so its not getting extremely warm, but im sure its above 68...
