Hot Diggity Sog - Chapter 5: The Big One

Nice grow Hot Diggity Sog! Following along to see how things work out. I like the experimental approach, and hope you're still on track for your Christmas harvest!

Cali Cajun Indoor Grow #4: Acapulco Gold

And this morning. Moisture level at the top of the SIP containers is noticeably damper than the controls, and the SIP plants continue to seem perkier. I am going to wait on top watering until the controls show the first signs of wilting, which probably will happen tomorrow or the next day.

Cali Cajun Indoor Grow #4: Acapulco Gold

A few more shots from yesterday. All plants together... the SIPs... ...and the controls.

Cali Cajun Indoor Grow #4: Acapulco Gold

The plants as of yesterday morning. The control plant at upper front right initially had been the largest of the four plants. The two SIP plants seem to have caught up and surpassed it in lateral / horizontal growth. Water level is slowly going down in the reservoir. I need to cover the top...

Cali Cajun Indoor Grow #4: Acapulco Gold

Doh!! I just noticed that I labeled this thread as indoor grow # 4; it is actually grow # 3. Never trust a stoner... Yesterday I began my little SIP (Self Irrigating Planter) experiment. For those not familiar with the concept, there is a lot of great information on this forum. The...

Cali Cajun Indoor Grow #2: Chemdog

Heading into the home stretch - I'll probably be harvesting next week. Ironically now that I'm about to harvest, my leaf yellowing issue seems to be improving / slowing down. I'm wondering if it possibly could be caused by my water pH?? I checked my county water report a few weeks back and...

Show me your worm bins and compost

Thanks for starting this thread! I just started my bin approximately two months ago, using a couple of large plastic totes. I purchased a pound of red worms and made bedding out of coco coir, leaves, cardboard and newspapers. I initially placed screen on the top of one of the containers for...

Indoor SIP Noob: Question About Relative Humidity

Greetings fellow growers, Not sure if it makes more sense to post this in the organics section, but figured I'd start here. I'm thinking about trying a SIP setup for my next grow, and have been reading up the various threads on this and other growing sites. I am wondering how much SIP...

Cali Cajun Indoor Grow #4: Acapulco Gold

Yesterday I transplanted from solo cups to 1 gallon smart pots. All seedlings are rooting nicely and growing vigorously. I turned off the CFLs and transitioned to a small quantum board LED, starting an 18 hour light cycle today.

Cali Cajun Indoor Grow #4: Acapulco Gold

Greetings, fellow growers! This is my third indoor grow, and I will be moving from a super soil mix to Clackamas Coot’s organic soil recipe, purchased premixed from Buildasoil. I popped four Acapulco Gold seeds from Barney’s Farm, and all four germinated. After germination they were moved to a...

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

I finally found a plastic tote that looks like it will work in my tent: a 27 gallon tote that is 17.5" wide by 25" long by 19.38" tall. If anyone else is trying to fit a couple of totes into a 3' x 3', tent, here's a link...

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

Thanks Projectinfo! For my next grow I was hoping to move up to a couple of 20 gallon pots and give no-till a try. I could possibly go down to 15 gallons, but would rather stick with 20 if I can. The problem I'm finding is all the plastic tote SIP options won't fit two containers in my 3' x...

Cali Cajun Indoor Grow #2: Chemdog

Thank you brother! The odor is very nice - until flowering it had a very chemical / diesel type of smell. Once it started to flower, though, it's had a sweet odor layered on top of it that I can't quite describe. I like it, though!

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

Thanks for that - what site did you find these specs on? The other specs I've seen on the Earthbox indicated it had less than 15 gallon soil capacity. If it can actually hold 15 gallons and now has a 3 gallon reservoir, I might like to try it out.
