THC deterioration for medical purposes / Maximization of CBN content

Hello everybody.

I have been experimenting with an extract from the buds for a while now (got positive results to an extent). Since I have an autoimmune disease I want to try and see how my body reacts to an extract with the highest amount possible of CBN.
At the moment I am making my medicine with cocoa butter.

My goal would be to get a ratio of at least 1:1 of CBN and THC.

I know that CBN comes from the degradation of THC and CBD. Exposing the bud to light, air and heat makes it possible to get higher amounts of CBN.

My question for the gurus would be how fast does it happen? What method would be the fastest one?

Next step will be a hi CBD strain, but I'm not there yet, so I want to try this in the meantime.

Thanks for your help. Wish you all a good one... :)

I know.

But you have mistaken CBD and CBN. CBN is a "waste" product and you can get it from any normal strain with aging and improper storage.
What I want is to accelerate this process as much as possible.

Thanks anyways. :)

Well It's not that easy to explain really. In essence CBN has some effects of its own. Different from the ones from CBD and THC. One of them is that it will interact with the immune system (or so they say). Apparently agonizing it. Now that is exactly or very similar to what the expensive biological medicine like Embrel, Humira, Remicade,... do (to an extent). I might be dead wrong because I don't know anything.
I am following a hunch and want to experiment with it. Dig deeper and see what happens.

I know it can't get worse and god knows I have tried a gazillion of remedies, medications,...

Every day something new to learn about this wonderful medicine.
There's yet hope for me.

Thanks, will sink my teeth into that as well. :)

If you are looking medical benefits I'd start with maximizing CBD from a high CBD percentage strain.
CBD has a lot of medical properties whereas CBN mainly is seen as a degradation product and indicator of age.
I don't think anyone should desire maximizing the percentage of CBN relative to other cannabinoids in the product.

I know that CBN has some analgesic properties and other effects on the human body (which are rather negative imo) but as current research stands CBN is one of the least medically beneficial cannabinoids.
It would be better for you to focus your attention on CBG and CBD imo.

I am looking into CBD as well but it's "not the time" yet if you know what I mean. :)
In the meantime I want to experiment with CBN. Besides CBN is supposed to have a property that I am looking for specifically. I already explained that in a previous post.

Thanks.

When I say "not the time yet" I simply mean I don' have a batch of ready to use hi CBN strain (yet). But soon.
I don't particularly like the high I get from THC. Remember I eat a lot of this sheet every day. :)
Also there is no such thing as dispensaries or coffee shops here where I live and the weed on the black market is not tested.
I am fighting Psoriatic Arthritis PSA which is an autoimmune disease. I have both Psoriasis and Arthritis.
So far I have found no improvement on my psoriasis with the "normal" medicine (weed). I don't have a hi CBD strain yet so I might as well try something else like CBN in the mean time. No?

I don't quite follow, saying "high CBN strain" is a bit of an oxymoron.
CBN is a degradation product mate, no strain can be a high CBN strain since all strains can be high in CBN if you grow it out for too long, expose it to sunlight etc.
I don't know where you got the "CBN is supposed to have a property I'm looking for".
I haven't read anything about CBN having any real medical benefits besides it being mildly analgesic.
As far as I know CBC has a sedative effect, maybe you could link me the study which shows CBN also has a sedative effect.

Of course you can try maximizing CBN if you want to, please don't get me wrong, I'm not telling you what to do I'm simply giving my opinion on the matter.
You should explore everything if you are looking for relief.
All I'm saying is that CBD and CBG are by far the most medically beneficial cannabinoids and we don't even know all the effects they may have on diseases/infections yet.
There's no wrong with experimenting, but if you link wikipedia articles without references as backup for your arguments then anyone can't really take that particular statement seriously. The medicaljane guy does not provide any references either.

I am working on a high CBD strain. But it's not time yet. Just started flowering like a few weeks ago. In the meantime I read and experiment.
You know what I meant with "high CBN strain" (read tread title)... We are not stupid nor me nor you.
I have linked you to 2 articles and a video. Saying that CBN MIGHT have some of the proprieties I am looking for (Antiinflamatory, imunosupressant).

I have read a ton of articles so far and the reports vary a lot. Some say this, some say that. No one really knows how this thing really works. I don't claim anything myself. Trying doesn't hurt.
My main guideline is that I do not want to get stoned. So the fact that CBN is weaker than THC is also a good point for me.
In doing this I also learn how the plants work. And I can see the effects myself. It's a learning curve really.

So I have blasted the dry buds for 24 hours uder my CFL's and it seems that it did the trick. Now I have to cook the buds in cocoa oil and start testing.
I have tried to smoke it and I kinda like this different feeling I get from it.

I think in the end it will be about finding a good balance for myself. I have seen some good results so far. But as soon as the humidity came It all went down the drain and it did nothing for my psoriasis.
I need much more time. I have yet to try the Rick Simson's oil too.
Thanks for your help ;)
