Tincture QUESTION.. please help
OK, so basically I need to figure out what to do to make the best tincture, as this is our first time doing it with alcohol.
So- this is out first time w/ alcohol tincture. I've already started it, watched a bunch of YouTube vids, etc. of people doing it, and got a basic recipe that was pretty standard for most people, but we still have a few questions.....
What I did:
I used an ounce of sugar leaf/trim to 1 3/4 cups of alcohol(Everclear).
It said to use 2 cups on most, but a half of a 750ml bottle is about 1 3/4 cups, and the one guy did that for that reason, which makes sense to us, it will just be a little more potent.
Ok, so 1 ounce trim (high-quality and potent): 1 3/4 cups Everclear
Now, on many youtube videos ive seen and read many differnent but similar techniques, while researching tincture methods for storage time, place, etc. while brewing that they : place it in the- freezer, fridge, or room temp in a dark cupboard - for the 4-7 day storage.
What advice do you guys have on this: Where is the best place to store this, for how long, and why?

store in a sealed blacked out bottle for 30 days
if you used decarbed weed or store in a dark HOT place (under the car less time) say 7 -14 days or... longer rule is generally 30 days but I find tossing it under a tree in the backyard or in the car during hot months it lessens the time as heat and thc help the alcohol bond
and I add about 2 oz to about 2 cups of booze since I need mine stronger most should titrate themselves and see how they react to it

I use the freezer. Alcohol disolves things best when very cold.
Also, I can't get everclear here, just 99% ISO. So I make an extract, them mix it with 151 (to desired strength) for my pain tincture.
i cant buy everclear from the liquor store here- so i ordered it of an online liquor store.. cost me double what i payed for it b/c shipping.. but still i got it..its a much cleaner product to use for medication..
i used to live in a med state and all my tinc was purchased..most made with everclear-some w/ 151.. but skip the ISO.. not good to consume ISO... especially for medical patients who arent in good health..

I by no means, meant for anyone to consume ISO, it's poison...250ml is lethal. I evaporate all the ISO before using the extract.

Over, I went to Ikea and bought a large 'old fashioned' style glass bottle with stopper top, $5. I poured my everclear and an ounce into it and literally stashed it in the pantry. It's an evil brownish green color, tastes like butt, but its potent!! I'm thinking about evaporating the alcohol off, but it's all marinating together at this point. After a couple months, sometimes I strain out the old stuff and add new greenery, like an ongoing science project
interesting.. mine is at 30 days today.. ill be straining it and making a video log of it..
also be posting my results.. i followed a recipe by "sweet baby ruth" .. she seems to make quite a bit of Medables..

1. Grind and Decarb bud /trim in micro. 20 sec at 50% power let cool and repeat 3 times.
2. Watkins extract (orange or lemon) 85-89% alcohol. Higher alcohol content than everclear. One 2oz bottle to one gram of green.
3. Fill pot 1/2 way up with water. Put Watkins extract and decab bud in small beaker or glass container. Then put container with mixture in pot of water. Bring temp up to 165 deg. I use candy therm. DO NOT go over 172 deg. alcohol will boil/ flash and cause fire.....With continer in water you can control temp easier. Hold temp at 165 for 20 min.
4. After 20 min. add cool water to pan slow to cool mixture in glass..Then strain in to original bottle.
You will lose some volume due to evaporation of extract but not much.. Screw the thirty day wait!!
