so here's my story:

back in my day i was on. hardcore metal shows 3-4 nights a week. lived in the east bay so someone was always in town. the best times of my life. but with it came costs.

punched in the faced by a tweaker while i was sitting behind the wheel of my car. guy was trying to get at my passenger. took a full force direct hit right on the point of my nose. pretty much crushed all the meat in my upper lip. got all nasty swollen messed up for weeks.

water skiing in the alameda estuary. tidal waters. these little patches of floating debris got caught up in the swirling currents and are scattered across the surface of the water. i was on a knee board. got "whipped" at 40mph on a 65' rope on a hairpin turn. 3/4 of the way thru this insane ride the nose of the board dug in. i've been told take the speed of me could have been 60+ mph due to the "WHIP". i hit face first with my mouth wide open. felt i should have been hurt pretty bad. they say i did 3 full cartwheels. when i got back into the boat i put my head between my legs and 2 handfuls of water and little sticks drained from my sinuses. to this day i feel something in the back of my throat.

one night 2 girls and myself were heading out to a 2am rendevous with ANOTHER fifth of jack and frisky attitudes. it was on for me . i was in guy heaven. they kept telling me to put on my seat belt. haa, i am man i don't need it. plus you're not gonna wreck. she wrecked. put us straight into the side of a cliff at 55mph. my face went thru the windsheild then came back in.
split my head 5" up starting at my eyebrow. she wanted to report the truck stolen and collect the insurance so we told the er i just got in a fight and someone hit me with a bottle.

so 15+ years later.... MY FRICKIN head is killing me. i have had a headache 24/7 literally for over a month now. i told my dr. all these strories and my head hurts. so he gives me claritin!. he has ordered an MRI now since the claritin didn't help.
but in the mean time my head is killing me. it's hard to even smile. it hurts to laugh. people are mean to me because of my attitude. my neck hurts. this sucks. i smoke ALL day just to keep from screaming.

thank you good answer. been a patient for years now. i have 2 dr.s. funny thing is the marijuana is the one thing helping me. the only thing. i told him and the five other dr.s from day one there is something in my throat. i was at the dentist and they got the sucky thing near it. that night a piece of sticker, yeah like one of those little rams head burrs that get stuck in your socks, came out from behind my tonsil. something is still lodged back there. i saved the sticker and every time i show it to a dr. they are like, "We're done here. you should be fine in a week." they think i'm nuts. yet THEY have put me on:
asthma inhalers; i DON'T have asthma.
antibiotic steroids (several times); these just made me mean
claritin; still do'nthave allergies
clonipin; because i'm on edge all day because something is scratching at back of my throat. took those for 4 years before the overdose.
ambien; the whole sleep thing again
lunesta; this is said to be BETTER than ambien
vicodin; just to shut me up
nasnex; still no allergies

THERE is something lodged behind my tonsil. why won't they believe me. they just say open up and say aaahhh! NOPE don't see anything. then they tell me there is NO irritation. AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH here take this you'll be fine in a week.

In 96 when I was a teenager we had horses and I used to sit with my filly & chew on alfalfa hay. I swallowed some and a sliver of hay was visably logded in my tonsil for like 6 months and it just disapeared one day, and I have had pokey scratchy in that side of my throat ever since.
not even close to 60 mph sticks though. I feel for ya!

are you a frickin cat, you should be dead by now, with all the crap you have gone through. dude i knee board, and i know how much it hurts to eat shit around a hard turn. i have been wipped before and same as you...face first, mouth open. its nuts, the boat can be crusing at 30mph, and if you get wipped around the edge, you are almost going double of what you were, so around 60. that water hurts when you hit. i had to go to the ER because my brain was swelling from my head smacking the water at 50+ mph.

also, insted of just the nose catching, i popped up a good 6 feet, then nose dived, while going at least 50mph. and it felt like i had just fell from a 3 story building face first

Now here’s a thread we can all sink our teeth into (those with teeth remaining). I feel for ya’ fdd2blk. This could be a fantastic “woe is me” thread

At 3 I ran and tripped into a fireplace being built splitting my forehead wide requiring 37 stitches and to this day have the equivalent of a half of a golf ball sized scar protruding from my cranium. 1 month hospitalization, 3 years in and out for rebuilding

At 5 I guess I thought I could swim and jumped off a wharf (make your jokes now) woke up in the ER. I still have the trunks.

At 10 I was in the backseat (seatbelts weren’t mandatory then) and thrown into the windshield at 50kms/ the impact started internal bleeding leading to more hospital time.

At 11 I was backed over by a neighbor in a hurry to leave her driveway. The list of injuries too numerous to mention. 2 weeks hospital

At 13 hit by a Cadillac doing 80km and thrown 30 yards into the side of a house, bounced off and remember the tail end of another 2 1/2 week hospitalization

At 14 I took a 2 storey fall from my neighbor’s roof while I was “helping” them shingle. – More hospital time for a slipped disc and a fractured ankle.

At 17 I was run over by a garbage truck while motorcycling and dragged 1/3 of a city block. The pressure created by the bike frame released and projected my body from between it into a cast iron fence that lined the nearby sidewalk. Extended hospitalization with the added bonus of 2 years rehab to walk properly again.

At 19, an ex was unimpressed with my late hours at work and took it upon herself to let this be known in a very unique way. A 2 ½ foot length of rebar perpendicular to the spine after getting off to a running start. Wee woo wee woo wee woo, ambulance time again. A tenuous heal of the fracture to this day.

At 20 I was working with a family member in the woods and it was suggested that I be ballast atop a 60 foot tree. My job was to lean the tree in a specific direction while the chainsaw cut below. Once it was well on its way in the right direction, it was to be tied and I would climb down. Needless to say, it fell to the ground way before we got to the tied down portion with me at the top, still maintaining my position as “ballast” I was lucky with that one, fractured ribs and a dislocated shoulder were the full extent of the damages and only one night for observation in the hospital.

At 22 I’d my ex’s new beau come at me with a knife, jealousy thing I guess, I sidestepped to avoid the lunge but as he fell he caught the inside of my left knee severing a little bit of everything. It still aches when it rains.

I could go on, but I digress, someone else’s turn.
