Default Rhode Island Medical Marijuana (Please Help)
Hey therrrre,

I'm planning on moving to RI soon for the obvious benefit. I just want to know how difficult it is to get a card over there? And anyone's experiences. I know it's kind of vague but I feel like people will get the picture.
I lived in CO for the longest time and just had a great time with the medical services over there. But now I'm back in Boston and I don't like it. I mean I like being back home but having a small amount decriminalized doesn't do it for me. I need to get back to growing my own medicine.

Anyways, what can I expect when dealing with people out there. I got the basic gist of the laws. And found a lot of information.
I have severe and chronic pain. But I know in Colorado I had to have that written something like 3 times on my medical record - within a 3 year span.
Is there any circumstances like that in Rhode Island? Or if I just show them that my ankle was SHATTERED in 4 places I'll be good?

Any information will help. Sorry If I over wrote here.

"That's a good one. In Rhode Island it works like this:
1: The patient gets a recommendation from a doctor. This isn't a prescription because it would fall under the jurisdiction of the DEA if it was. ( every doctor has a DEA number for prescribing pharmaceuticals) it merely says that the benefits of medicinal cannabis would outweigh the possible heath risks.

2: The patient picks up to two caregivers, if they desire, and all three get a criminal background check. Upon completion of the background check and the other paper work there is a 2 week processing period.

3: After approx. 2 weeks the patient and caregivers are given appointments (over the phone) to receive photo ID's. Each patient and caregiver have a license # with the state.

After that you are on your own you get the seeds, you grow, you harvest, you supply the patient. The card just gets you out of jail. HOPEFULLY!"-rodney37

You would have better luck and better selection in the veteran states like CA, CO, and OR.

Word, I really appreciate that info. Does anyone else have info on how difficult/easy it is to actually obtain the license? I am not a Critically Ill patient. But I do have very excruciating Chronic Pain. And I know that's enough to get my license in Rhode Island. But how hard will it be? And will I need to get a copy of my medical record - Does chronic pain have to be written on my medical record multiple times, over a certain amount of time?

If anyone can answer these questions for me that would be awesome and greatly appreciated.

haha i understand i would have better luck being there. I lived in Colorado for many years and successfully had many amazing legal grows. But I moved back to Massachusetts to be close to my family and my ill mother. I'm not leaving here. Plus if no one works to make a good culture in the newer and smaller states with medical laws, then how will these states ever be as open minded and become "veteran states" like CA, CO, and OR?

I think we should focus more on getting people who are supporting this movement and actually care about it, into these smaller and less evolved states. SO they can become more accepting of the medical laws.

you will probably need a recent medical record from atleast 1 doctor, and it would probable help if it was a RI doctor.

i plan on moving to calli my self so i can do what i love legally. i live in mass also, and i read all about RI medical, but it dosnt seem as great as things are in calli, so im just going to wait

Shattered Ankle, NO CHANCE for MMJ in RI !!! You need a serious illness and then you will have a heck of a time finding a doctor then !! You sent me an email about opening a caregiving company in RI and all I can say is don't come here looking to make much money as all dispensaries are non-profit and then patients won't pay caregivers more than what the dispensaries charge !!!!

RI got one part of the law, right !!!!!!!

Peace,
Bill
