Hello, I am a medical cannabis user and am looking for a therapist or counselor. I have been to 2 private counselors for help with stress and anger management and both told me after i told them i use cannabis that they would not continue to treat me unless i stop. When i pressed them they said they would still see me , but when i continued to go all they would talk about is my cannabis usage! then i made an appointment through Kaiser hoping it would be better. NOPE! even worse! Haven't these doctors ever read a book? CANNABIS IS NOT MY PROBLEM!! IT IS SAVING MY LIFE YOU STUPID SOB'S!.I live in the Bay area California and have a legal prescription to use. CAN ANYBODY RECOMMEND A THERAPIST CLOSE BY THAT HAS BEEN EDUCATED IN THE MEDICAL PROPERTIES OF CANNABIS? PLEASE HELP.........

Unfortunately this is pretty normal. Why are you telling them? Not that I advocate hiding medical information but the knee jerk reaction from much of the medical community is to say you are a drug abuser. Your only real hope is to have a stack of research from medline that supports med mj. But it will still be hard to get a hearing. Your other hope is to keep trying and find a sympathetic therapist.

Have the same problems and live in the same area. Harbor Side health center (crazy ass dispensary with lab tested strains 30+ at a time and accepts credit cards) has free counseling, accupuncture, meidtation classes... Might give it a try. They just got a buncha new armed gaurds monitoring the parking lot and entrance so even though you're in Oakland you feel nice and safe lol.

I know what your saying, every therapist i have ever been to this problem has come up. The last therapist i had i didn't tell and the treatment was excellent. I just have this weird thing about lies....I DONT LIKE IT. But i am getting desperate here , I think i will have to go back. The difference... 120 p/hr 1-2 week. Or 20 copay at Kaiser............................

They are brainwashed by big corporate medical establishments. The proof is in the pudding ...ZERO RECORDED FATALITIES IN WHAT 3000 YEARS ? OF USE? They (Big pharmaceutical companies and doctors like Kaiser Permanente) dont sell the stuff, so they dont recommend the stuff you know? Thats basically it! They know you can easily grow just as good if not better meds yourself for next to nothing so "nobody" will ever go to the store and pay top dollar for it. No profit = no interest and no legality for us.
