hey, I am very interested in going to Oaksterdam University and growing weed for clubs and dispensaries .... Can I really make a living off of this? How would I go about doing this? any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm interested in the same. I had an impulse to attend the 4/20 weekend at Oaksterdam, but they were full by the time I heard about it. I'm thinking of using it to supplement my existing income. I like my job (usually) and I really like the people I work with. I'd say that your best bet for getting started is to talk to as many people as you can when you go to your club. I am still trying to figure out how to go about it too, and in spite of the AG's letter, I'm still wary about the legal/political climate, so I am still a little paranoid (maybe not enough).

I hope you get an answer!

thanks for the input..... I've heard that clubs and dispensaries will pay about 300 for an zip and about 4800 a pound If it is some kill and it is a strain proven to help some disease. At these prices I would see it to be easy to make a good living off of it......... Anyone out there actually doing this?

yea haha..... Its the only career I can see myself goin in to. I heard it is really really easy to get a medicinal marijuana card so im not worried about that. I just want save up enough $ so i can go there and go thru the 13 week semester at oaksterdam and then I just want to grow weed and sell it to the dispensaries. So, fearcity, we might do business in the future.

I'm fortunate enough to live in the area (I'm a native), and there are a lot of helpful people around here. One thing to bear in mind is that the cost of living out here is quite high, so you may have to make more than you think It is definitely possible to make a living at this, many do. If I decide to get more serious about this, I'll probably buy some land in Oakland or Santa Cruz. These places are preferable because the laws allow more plants than the state limit of 6. There are a number of other places in further northern california that are even more lenient (like Humboldt - 100 sq feet of growing space and 3 lbs dried bud).

yea I knew cali is more expensive.... but if you can have a 10x10 room you could get a lot if you do what is called Stadium Growing and you could harvest a lot of bud every 4 months...... do some type of state worker come and check on your grow ops?

Yeah, there is a setup called the coliseum that I saw at the local hydroshop. I found a PDF about it here http://www.aristabc.com/coli_present...roomdesign.pdf but these pictures can't do it justice. It is HUGE, and it's modular, so you can make it even bigger. As far as inspection, no I don't believe any process like that exists here. As far as I know, the limits are likely to apply only if there is a problem and someone comes to visit. I think there are only a handful of counties with 0 plant limit, but Jorge Cervantes recommends never growing more than 99 plants because of federal laws.

the club bud here has to be effing amazing or you wont get crap for it. california has extremely high standards for weed, so make sure you have the shit before you try coming hear to grow. plus the humidity is pretty fucking high sometimes, so be prepared for lots of new issues
