I'm moving to cali in about a month from now and I'm planning on getting a MMJ card ASAP... my question is this: If I get my drivers licence changed over will that be enough or will I have to wait for some amount of time to become an official resident of the state before I can get one??

as long as you have a california id or drivers licence you are good to go

Once you apply for your California State ID, you'll need to allow up to 60 days for your ID to arrive in the mail. In the meantime, you'll receive "Positive Identification Verification" paperwork.

This documentation may, or may not be enough proof for your doctor. I wish that I could specifically tell you that it will or will not work, but it's hit and miss.

We've seen doctors who do accept a "Positive Identification Verification", we've seen doctors who accept out of state Id, and we've seen doctors that will take a combination of both your out of state ID and your paperwork.

Either way, you've got a good chance to get your recommendation in the first couple days of your arrival. You'll definitely want to apply for that ID right away though, so that you can obtain your County ID Card as well!

A CA ID is necessary to get into any legal operating club and they will require you have your ID and Rec every time you go in. I have read other posts on WeedTRACKER about people from other states not being able to go into a club without a CA ID, so get you CA ID first (apply for it now) so when you go to the doc of your choice he doesnt give you S about it either.
