Colorado Shops and Growers

I am living in Colorado Springs and I am serious about starting a dispensary(sp?). I would like to start getting together with some store owners at least here on the board and getting some pointers. I also would like to contact growers to supply my store. I have funding and a place for my own growing. I am looking at places for the store. I found a phone number on here a while back of a gentleman who was here in the springs, but I lost it and caould not find him again. Anyway, lets talk you guys. I also have a few people who are going to help with tending the plants and business.

FYI please dont ask me for sources. This is a business opportunity I have been considering for some time now.

was there a specific question there? I am a patient/caregiver up in northern Co. and would be happy to answer any questions I can, however please keep them more concise and less vague than the above post.

You ask for other store owners to step up with info for you, but then mention for no one to ask for sources from you because it's a business. I thought everyone should work together, may be I'm wrong.

I am saying besides legal use. Like dont ask me for a joint. lol

The type questions I have are...

What sort of legal representation do you guys have or do I need?

How much did it cost in total to get started?

and any other help ya might have.:weed:

How many dispensaries are there in Colorado Springs?

Have you taken a tour of the Denver dispensaries to see what sort of set-up you will need?

I think the first thing you will need is a retail space, many property owners are skittish but I'm sure you can find a supportive one if put in some time. Be up front with them and don't waste your time if they are apprehensive.

Good luck

The best guy to talk to is Warren Edson. He'll give you the most up-to-date info, he actually co-wrote Amendment 20 with the Dept of Health people. Google the Law Offices of Warren Edson.

I'm a patient and a caregiver for one in Colorado and would like some information on how to become a vendor. I see a lot of dispensaries in my area seeking vendors but last time I checked, unless you are running a dispensary, selling weed is illegal. I stay within the legal limit but I don't let anything go to waste so I end up with extras like tinctures and hash and it would be really amazing if I could unload some of that product legally since getting by is hard enough as it is with my condition. Long story short, how can I become a vendor in CO?

Co. Law does allow sales and dispensing. It's right there in the law. Hell even a patient/caregiver going to the street and buying Herb is a legal transaction.
As far as being a vendor, there is nothing special about doing that. All transactions between patients and caregivers are legal under Co law. So take a sample to the disp and give them a price. Get cash for any product you sell.

As Colorado growers may not be able to any more!

I know people that know people............they recommend Robert Correy......he is one of the three lawyers that helped write the law...........I don't rememeber the other two........but a search and some reading time would find them........not sure if it was Westword, Boulder free press, daily camera or where..........

I also thought of opening a dispensary..........but the whole system is going to be shook up soon.....and I expect the knee-jerk reaction to be extreme. All the 20 somethings with chronic back pain, buying from 20 something dispensary owners, then selling it to their buddies in the parking lot are going to give the other side fuel for the fire.....
Essentially...as a caregiver...I am a dispensary......just a private one....and I'm happy to keep it that way....I have a personal connection with my clients, I can keep prices down because I don't have to rent retail space ....and I think my product is better due to less/gentler handling than a mass production allows..... The only issue is that I can't offer the variety they do.... Some of my clients have gone to dispensaries for just that reason......and come away disappointed by high prices and poor quality....

Folks....let's be happy that we've taken a step towards legalization............and stay within the law. They've given us some rope and are hoping we'll hang ourselves.....which will happen if the abuses of the system don't stop. Every story on the news about a break-in, robbery at the dispensary, grower busted for too many plants, fire from rigged electricity, stank from a grow floating through the school yard.......are not helping our cause. If you give the public reason to be up-in-arms....they will. Even tokers getting raped at the dispensaries can become spiteful and decide to vote against the next legal issue.....

Best of luck with the dispensary.....I'm all for getting as many as possible. Demand is outstripping supply, causing the outrageous prices......hopefully more supply will bring prices down so all those in need can afford and obtain their medicine.

Stay away from Rob Corry. He gets a lot of press, but look at his past and the cases he has lost. He also has some sexual assault cases against him. I wouldn't pay him a dime. The other two "names" are vincente and mccalister iirc. I dont know too much on them. Warren Edson is here but he wont represent you, from the email I got anyways.

You should wait until the new laws come out to see if it is even worth it. The are pissed about all these shops and are going to hit back hard, so be ready. Vending to clubs can be a waste. No free samples. Sell them a zip (cash) and if the like it, then they will contact you.

They will try and 1099 you and ask for a tax id. If you go that route, then your $3000 pound just turned into a $2100 pound minus $400 for expenses and you get $1700 per pound.

Go in with green and leave with green (cash or plant) until the law says otherwise.

Do you research, go out and talk to real people, not just us keyboard jockeys:blsmoke:.

I am a grower living in Castle Rock with 12 years experience and need to re-locate. I have a caregivers license with 2,400 watts of HPS and 7 Ebb and Flow Hydro tanks. Two great strains. Looking to partner with a dispensary and expand the grow. Let me know if you're interested. Nate [email protected]
