Default Outdoor Plant Yellowing, mostly contained too the bottom third of plant.
Hi,

Growing a plant outdoors, in a coastal cooler climate. Its 4 or so months old, and has been doing great. Its starting to flower now, but I have some issues. I dont know if the yellowing at the bottom of the plant is due to the flowering, or a nutrient problem. 80% of the leaves look healthy, its just the ones toward the bottom. I hope I'm overreacting and its just the normal phase of the plant. Here are some Pics, please let me know. Thanks. The strain is AK-47.

Are you feeding it? It seems that you know that yellowing does begin to occur with flowering no matter what. You can feed up til about two to three weeks before harvest, when you want to flush. Lower nitrogen, higher phosphorous fertilizer is what you want to feed.

No I'm not feeding it really. Just compost and organic potting soil.

Basically not giving it any extra nutrients that are not provided by the soil/compost itself.

Hey , if the leaves are yellowing and the veins are green it may be a magnesium deficiency it wont hurt either way to add half a teaspoon of epsom salt to 1 gallon of water. Hope that helps.

I was in your exact same position two weeks ago. Yellowing bottom (older) leaves, but I had green veins still. I got some alaskan fish emulsion (5-1-1) and some bone meal (6-12-0), added some epsom salt solution (1tbsp/gal), and everything has been looking up.

I haven't been out there in a few days, and it has rained a bit since I was out there last, but I was positive that I was adding the right things, so i'm sure everything is going much better now.

ya that will work.
blood and bone meals are good stuff. make a blood meal tea, good for nitrogen and is fast acting and the bone meal is a slowly absorbed one and good for phosphorus
