This has been growing in midwest sandy loam for about 3-4 mos. Was healthy until about a week ago. Now all new growth is experiencing this brown/red splotching. Invader?

Oh man..that looks like mold....stem/leaf botryis I think its called. I'm not positive though as it isn't suposed to be very common, and if it is stem bt...its the first time I've actually seen it. I hate to say it, but it also looks like you've got some powdery mildew on it too....bottom pic right side..one of the leaves that is partially blocked by the grey leafed stuff.

Why only in the new growth? That doesn't really add up to me. I have been adding a little homemade bug deterent containing tobacco juices, garlic, black pepper, and a little ivory hand soap all mixed together. Could that have triggered it?

The new growth is the MOST likely place for mold/mildew to start....its nice and sucilant. But with your home remedy thrown in the mix, I'm not positive...I've never used those things either so I don't know what the possible side affects could be....I do know that plenty of sprays are phototoxic, and will burn foliage. I would stop using sprays, and see if it gets any worse...but thats just me. I try not to overdo everything these days...you can end up causing more harm. Hopefully there is someone on here that has had your problem and chime in.

bud mold, yes ive heard of. But it forms during curing and drying. Ive never heard of mold forming on a living plant

It can happen if the humidity is too high and there is a lack of fresh air, or air circulation.
