| | Both plants turning stems purple | | Hey guys, I am new to the forum i just wanna say hi to everyone who may read. About two weeks ago i recieved a couple mother plants from one of my buddies, a power plant and a big blue???(northern lights x blueberry) both of these did great in the change from indoor to out and are now in the end of the first week of flowering. At the beginning of the week i started to notice some stems were taking a purple tone. I hit them with a 18-24-18 last week and some superthrive, they seemed to be turning back to green 2 days ago then i got a few cloudy days and they are turning purple again. Some leaves have dried up and died but these were all indoor leaves, the new ones are fine . Besides the stems the plants look very decent and growth is normal. I am having alot of trouble finding my camera's usb cable but as soon as i get it ill post the pics. I now have some better-grow fertilizer that is 11-35-15 im gonna hit it with this next week.
Any comments/suggestions will be great. This is the first time i take an indoor crop outside so any insight would be helpfull. |

| | if they just went from inside to out, they'll be getting a lot more intense light than before, so the plant is probably producing anthocyanins in the stem to help protect from UV radiation. seems perfectly normal, dont sweat it. |

| | as i promised here are the pics. the really bushy plant is the big blue strain?? or w/e its called (northern lights x blueberry) and the small looking plant is powerplant strain. these were both mother plants but the big blue was toped and kept in a bigger pot and the powerplant had a small pot and was not topped just used for cloning. they have been almost 2 weeks outside and started flowering last sunday. the pics really dont show much of the purple stems but its what i could get. let me know what you think of them (big blue is looking nice in my opinion)
this post contains the big blue crop the next will be powerplant. |

| | The stem turning purple could be do to tannins in the actual plant itself, if it's a blueberry cross, blueberry strains tend to have blue tannins and to get to the bud they need to travel through the stem. |

| | Also the chloroplasts in the plant could be stressing turning the plant purple. Usually if the plant turns purple it's because the plant is not getting enough CO2 due to nutes flooding the plant, causing poor circulation. Much like in people with poor circulation, their legs and veins turn purply. So maybe your adding too much nutes at a time causing poor circulation in your plant and you need to ween your plant onto the nutes instead of giving them a full dose.
This is also why frost bitten plants turn a purple colour, it's because of the cold temperature freezing the chloroplasts and inmobilizing them causing poor circulation and a lack of green pigment. |

| | Your little gifts look very healthy for being mothers and transplanted from indoor to outdoor. There's alot of nodes which will produce some fine buds, and since it's a good strain your looking for some good smoke.
If your really want to make it a bit bushier, a trick I found for outdoor plants is to rotate the plant on a three day basis, since the sun tends to shine on one side of the plant, much like the sun shining on the earth and leaving the other side dark, it leaves one side of the plant darker than the other. If you rotate the plant every three days the leaves will stretch to get back the light they are used to making a much more bushier and longer leaved plant. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
