Default Brown Spots on Leaves

Hello Everyone. I'm a noob at growing, in fact this is my first grow. I have to say this site has been more than helpful. I planted 40 plants in peat pots under t12 flourescents. It is now day 18. 3 days ago I transferred the plants into pots using miracle grow potting soil, which after doing some reading, I'm convinced that definitely wasn't the best choice. About 4 of the plants have brown spots on the outside of the lower leaves. I'm not sure if this a PH issue or not. I mixed 1 ounce of dolomite lime to every gallon of soil used, but It's only been 3 days. Can someone please take a look at the pics and give me your thoughts. Thanks to everyone in advance.

The bottom leafs usually crap out..it only appears to be there..watch for progression..there is a good pic chart in FAQ..go to plant prob. then to nute?pH prob..then the plant abuse chart by Nietzsche...also there is another place..FAQ to water, nutes & additives..go to how do I find.. chart... LUCK..they look pretty healthy to me...just watch and don't over nute..you might even pull back a bit to see they don't progress..don't start trying all the "remedies" till your sure.

just in case I didn't include enough info I've only fertilized the plants once at day 9. The NPK was (18-21-1. Should I feed the plants again even though I just put them in potting soil 3 days ago? I don't know the PH of my soil or water, but I guess I'll buy a kit this evening. I saw some other pictures that had similar spots that were a magnesium deficiency. I would have thought the dolomite lime would have taken care of that, but maybe since it's only been 3 days it hasn't had time to correct itself.

i dont think it`s ph. if you used that nute with 18/21/10 thats a flower nute not veg and that was to young to nute so i would think that the nutes would still be in the plant and then by transplanting in new soil that gave a freah supply of nutes ( in soil) and thats probably to much. nute burn, just use water if it spreads flush and no nutes in new soil for a couple weeks there is enough in ther to keep it going. if that mg soil has slow release nutes you have to be carefull adding more.

Thanks to both of you guys. Just so you know bonz that was 18-21-18. I guess the 18 + ) made a smiley face. The only reason I gave nutes at day 9 was that I read that the peat pots didn't carry any nutes and the seed only carried enough for about the first week. I've got some 15-30-15 for flowering. Do you think that will work? Also, the pots I have the plants in are fairly small { 1 1/2 qts. }. I was trying to grow many smaller plants vs. a couple of large ones, and eventually start the SOG method. How long do you suggest waiting between fertilizations? Thanks again.

I tried growing MG and it did the same thing. I thnk it's nute burn. I would replant in diff. mix use potting mix not soil. I have seen lots people using promix BX with mychoryze it suppose to help roots uptake nutes, sounds good aanyway

well 18/21/18 is still not good for veg. thats closer to flower nute but you still need more potasium than that. the same goes for the 15/30/15 it needs more of the k ( potasium) what brand are you using? are you at about 3 or 4 weeks now? if so i would consider doing a transplant into better soil as happygrits said. the problem with mg is that most of it has slow release nutes so when you add more nutes they burn and lock up. it is probably the most common mistake for new people. if your going to use nutes you need at least a ph tester. dont remember if i said it earlier but i got a cheapo tester ( liquid one) for like 8 bucks. the nutes usualy lower the ph. for now i would just use water till you get one.

Mg soil is good soil, only when you don't add more nutes. I like the miracle grow organic potting soil combined with there perlite which has a little nutes amended into it.
