it said they are hard 2 determine but both male and female both start out looking like balls one is round and one is pear shaped is this true

Yes, if its a female the first little growth will be more tear drop shaped and if male round

the balls on your plant could also be branch shoots as long as there are hairs coming out of the little balls your fine
