Post White Spots and Yellow/Brown tips [PICS]
Okay, so this plant has encountered the usual yellowing of the bottom leaves, but in my attempts to counteract this, I think I did something that caused the leaves to develop brown spots that shrunk and turned into white spots.

I don't think this is a Calcium lockout, as I've been using 100% organic soil (compost from home) which I added some crushed eggshells to (along with other things, when I was trying to stop the yellowing).

I added some fresh-cut greens a couple of days ago (to add more Nitrogen) and two days later the spots developed.

I don't think the spots are due to excessive heat, too much/little water, or too many nutrients; I think I just accidentally provided some bugs with the ideal home...

I haven't seen them, but I read that spider mites form small webs around the roots which cut down on circulation and cause spotting on the leaves, so I think they might have something to do with it.

If anybody has experienced anything like this, how do I fix or get rid of whatever caused this problem?

How safe is it to spray a plant with soapy water + vinegar solution to remove spider mites?

Isn't vinegar much too acidic (pH=~2.5) to add to the soil? Does the alkalinity of the soap cancel this out?

I've never intentionally put soap or vinegar on any plant, so I'm a bit reluctant to do this unless I'm sure it will solve my spider mite infestation.

Thank you to anyone that answers.

It does sound like spider mites. Get some triacide (spelling) or some other insecticide that is for use in gardens that kills spider mites.

It may also just be a retart. I've had a plant that looked F*d up it's whole life it would put out good looking leaves and as they got older they would first get rust looking spots then the spots/areas would just dry out, still got about an oz off of it. It was grown hydro and all of the others where fine, until the mites came before I had any insecticides.
