Default New leaves Pale Green But With Dark Green Tips
Hi all,

Would be grateful if someone could help me out with this problem please. Plants are growing outdoors in professional compost (with nutes and trace elements - not MG) with perlite. They are 22 days old, no food as yet. Doing well until last set of leaves sprouted and as you can see from the pic although the tips of the leaves are still dark green, the main part of the leaves is pale green and mottled. Lower leaves fine.

Could this be Sulphur deficiency? If so, what do you think I should do? Or could it be something else? I haven't been able to check ph of soil or water, but am about to order a meter. All help will be greatly appreciated thanks.

green.

Hi fdd2blk,

Tanks for the reply. No sign of infestation at all, but I have to say my first reaction when I saw this was that it may be due to heat - Saturday was a real scorcher here and I think those leaves had just sprouted. Could be that being tender they got a roasting. Someone has also suggested Mn deficiency, possibly due to high water ph. Any thoughts on that?

Thanks again,
green.

i think it's a little early to be lacking nutes. i'm gonna go with sun burn. maybe a little morning dew intensified it a little. i see flaws like this all the time. it appears to be recovering.

Sounds good to me. Will still check my ph as I should have been doing anyway, and hopefully things will improve as you suggest. Thanks again fdd2blk.

Default You Were Right fdd2blk
An update to my leaf problems, specifically for fdd2blk (hope you see it) and for anyone else who it might help out.

After only one day there is a huge improvement in the condition of the young leaves on my plants which fdd2blk reckoned had been sun burned, and I think he was dead right. For background, the plants had been in almost constant sunshine (blue skies) for more than two weeks, no let-up. Saturday last was particularly hot, and it was a day or two later I first noticed the damage.

Too much sun? Not a bad thing for cannabis I hear you say. But what I hadn't taken into account, and failed to mention before, was the fact that my plants were sitting above ground in black plastic pots, so I reckon root damage or even root death was on the cards. At the very least the condition of the roots, combined with the heat of the sun on the young, tender leaves, was a recipe for trouble.

Action Taken:

Immediately brought them inside under fluorescent light. Re-potted first thing today into larger, and hopefully better coloured pots. See the difference a day has made below:

Yesterday

Today

Some permanent damage, but minor (I hope) compared to what might have been. Many thanks again fdd2blk. Rep+ for you.
