| | 3 Weeks into flowering, plants dying please help | | I have three females of an unknown strain (grown from seed) that I induced into flowering after vegging for a month. I have been using mulitple cfl's of shapes and sizes, mostly from the Ott-Lite brand. One of the girls is doing very well, but the other two are looking bad with small flowers
There are two things that I think I have done wrong:
1. Over-trimming leaves - I think I trimmed too many fan leaves off the plants initially. After other leaves have died in the past few weeks, I have trimmed them leaving no large fan leaves on two of the plants. They basically look like sticks with flowers on them.
2. Over-nuting - I tried using miraclegro bloom booster, at a very diluted level, on a few occasions so far. The first nute was definitely too much b/c I saw signs within a few hours. However they recovered from this after flushing etc., but now I have two females that I don't know what to do with.
Please let me know my options. I need to know if they are going to die w/out any fan leaves, or will the buds continue to grow? Should I harvest the tiny flowers now or will they get bigger. This is my first grow and I ended up with 3 out of 4 plants being female with seeds from a random bag.
Pictures soon.

| | Man, plants need leaves for photosynthesis which is a big stage in flowering...You should never clip leaves unless you can pull them off from just dying. Cutting also so that big fan leaves arent in the way of bud growth is ok though. If you cut around 50 percent of fan leaves off, the plant will normally die. They might bounce back, they probably wont....Let them keep going, and you never know...it is a weed and weeds are strong...;P Dont cut it, let it go until it cant go no longer..They might pick back up.

| | Thanks for the info, I think I got worried after over nuting them, so I trimmed some leaves, some more starting looking bad and so on...I got carried away.
How long should I give the plants (and how will I know) to "bounce back" before cutting my losses and harvesting early so not to lose anything thats already grown? |

| | life is a learning experience | | I'd say start some seed or whatever you have. when they are ready to pot cut whatever you have growing an start over,,their are lots of good article on the net about prunning, why and why not to,,read some...on feeding..less is more as a rule..find some info on super cropping, a great way to increase yeald without hurting the plant..
of coarse I speak of tomatoes fruit of the gods..

| | Its all salvageable, but will require a long process of revegging the small sick ones. The good one you keep it in flower and harvest that one when its ready, the other 2 not so good ones need to go back into veg (18/6) schedule for 4-6 weeks longer. They will grow big fan leaves again once vegging begins again in 2-3 weeks. Might be a good idea to transplant the sick ones into plain soil so as not to kill them anymore. Might also be just as easy to start some new seeds and get going the right way from the start. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
