So you just put a bucket aside with proper amount of h2o and let chlorine dissipate? Does chlorine remover have any adverse effects on plants or add ppm etc? Not sure if it is a factor for me, but I would love to eliminate it as one.

Good news is the roots appear to be partially recovering themselves after a few minor changes. The problem is that the new roots appear to be be burning the root tips just like the previous pics. (roots r from same plant). Now I believe that overwatering has become an issue beacuse my damn timer broke... I have one of those expensive $100 CAP 4-1 timers. Neways sometimes it decides to go thru its on cycle 2-6 times instead of once...ugg..hopefully a series of miracles will occur that keep the timer on a descent schedule. Ordering a new one this week.
i havent seen any effects caused by the clorine remover other then healthy plants lol check out my journal when you can. but even when i use it i still let it sit out for 24 hours. you might have hard water. im also growing in soil

ok thanks for the thoughts chief. U know mebe your right about the hard water. I thought water had to be over 70ppm out of the tap to be hard, but I think I have proved to be an exception. Ill look into the correct nutes next time i reach the store...

yarg, since starting this thread I have sprayed the outside with "plasti-dip" A black rubber spray paint. The top is covered with mylar. This eliminates the possibility of algal growth, leading to root rot.

I noted in a previous reply that I have had this problem in 3 different hydro/aeroponic systems. One of those systems was 100% light proof. It is for this reason that I am hoping my problem was low temperatures and over watering. I am also considering the fact that my water is hard as well. Are there any adverse effects of using hard water nutrients if you don't have hard water? I am planning on using them just in case my water is hard even though it only has 10ppm.

I am now wondering when to let the bottom of the roots hang in the water below. I am new to drip systems and I think now might be a good time to do so. They are looking less healthy than previous days, but conditions are the same.

you got any pics of what your setups looks likenow. I to would say light but i know you have already addressed that problem. Light makes roots turn brown and somewhat hard.
