Question Very first plant, unsure of problem.

Decided to do a trial and error run on my very first plant. Its appearing to have some brown dead spots show up and the tips are dying Ive got it planted in Sunshine Mix #4 as recommended by a experienced grower, however plant was switched over recently from petemoss. Could be stress related? Nutrients used are a local product. 1st is 2-0-0 and the other is 1-2-5 they say it will be perfect for the plant. Its currently under 3 fluorescent bulbs for its veg approx 4-5 inches away.. To far? Watered once every other day and nutrients havnt established a schedule, probably should... Any help or suggestions as to things I can do to improve, like I said trial and error run so when i get serious i know a bit more. Thanks

It could be overwatering...every other day for a plant under a few CFLs is probably too much. Which overwatering will make the leaves yellow and droop...feeding too often will cause intermittent brown spots, and also burn the tips of the plants...

the lights being 4-5 inches away sound right on to me.Watering every other day is a bit to much, should only water when your pots get light.Letting them dry out a bit is good for your plants, they like it.Try to start watering every 4-5 days (but it does matter in how big of pots there in) you can spray them with some water every 2-3 days.It matters on how big your plants are but I would start feeding them with half strengh nuts once a week till they look better. More info would be helpful + pics.

Thanks guys, still completely new to all of this but this website is awsome haha. Will try watering less often and ensure that my pot is dry before doing so. Will post updates, and once i figure out my camera and everything pictures will quickly follow.

So I went the route of flushing it before. Never have done it, did it out side just with hose water because the ph tested to about 7. I then tested the run off and it was way lower it tested around 4.8... Is this a good sign?? i have it outside now in the sun so it can properly drain and dry

4.8 PH run off is very low...run off shouldn't be that low. It means there is a lot of salt build up in your soil and your plant isn't using all the food your giving it. Test the soil, a good place for it is from 6.2 to 7.0. Don't feed it anymore, just flush and use water until you get your ph back up to 6.2 - 7.0 range.
