    Default Hungry Critters???

Been growing for 10+ years in southern Ohio. I've had a problem with my outdoor plants this year that I've never seen.... Something has been cutting my plants. Only plants that weren't in fence at first. Will cut stock about 4-6 inches off ground at 45 degree angle then cuts plant up into 6-8 inch lengths and just leaves it... doesn't eat or take anything that I can tell. Was cutting one down every couple days until I fenced everything. Have 2ft fence around everything now but something still got into one patch and is cutting them somehow- one at a time as I have said. The cuts are nearly perfect 45 degree angles. The area affected is very large... I have plants scattered in about a two-mile radius and the only ones not affected so far are in VERY thick multi-floral rose. Has done this to small starts, small clones, medium plants and is now working on plants that are over 5ft tall but seems to have a hard time with the thicker stocks (the cuts are not as clean). We have many critters such as deer, groundhogs, skunk but I've never seen this before and have heard another old-time grower say same thing this year. Whatever this %*!+^# is has cost me a very nice harvest and I would love to hear any suggestions on the matter. Thanks to all for reading... hopefully someone can give me some answers.

I know of 2 other growers that are having the same problem . They first thought it was mice but now they think it might be squirrels there using mouse poison and what ever it is they love it and have stopped eating there plants.
