i think my plants about to die, please help??!

i found a plant on the side of the road few days ago. i ripped the whole thing out of the ground not thinking.there were barley any roots left. in a few minutes every leaf was hanging down, its about 18 inches tall and has started to preflower. i left it in a cup of water the first few days and it did fine, but everyime i put it in the sun the leaves went back down. yesterday i put it in soil in a pot. it was fine but after about 12 hours every leaf is hanging straight down. the stems almost hangs completely down. the very top of the plant is also hanging over the side of the plant like it cant support its on weight. i dont know whether maybe i overwatered when i put it in the pot or theres not enough root so it cant get any water. what do you guys think, maybe i just should put it back in water

When you get a plant out of the ground you dig out the surrounding rootball ,not just grab it and rip it out of the soil. The plant has lost its root system so its fucked.

yea i wasnt expectin to keep it. my grandma has always been antidrug whatever, so i was just gonna show her but then she was like lets grow it in the greenhouse, anyway its pissin me off now because its already startin to flower. yea i live wit my gram im 16

That's a wrap for you Chris, you do know the legal age limit for being on this site don't you?

without the rootball your plant will most likely not survive, there is just to much foliage for the small amounts of root that remain. Best bet is to put it in water and try to clone a branch or cut it down to 1 or 2 limbs and pray for the root's to start growing again; either way you are gonna have to trim it.

i dont wanna clone it because that would set it months behind right? can it grow its roots back in water and when it has enough i can put it back in soil?

Then its gonna die.. You kinda fucked up.. You should buy some seeds for yourself.. Or pick some out of brick weed.. You probly stole someones plant..
