Yep, a small fan going while lights are on
Some hoods direct the light in such a way that "hot" spots are created. Even with ventilation out of my hoods- I still aim fans at the hoods to further disperse the heat from the bulbs.....also try adding silica (builds stronger cell walls and increases plants ability to fight off heat) to your waterings.
150w should be between 5" and 16" from your plants for maximum candle power. There's a chart somewhere, but I'm too lazy to go look for it.
sounds like what your using for a reflector has some hot spots.
yea I can keep my 600W HPS 16-18 inches away with no problems .. no cool tube ... but have a big fan a foot away pointet at it at all time or I would have 88F insted of 82F at the top of my plants .. also have a outtake ventilation with a carbon filter on it so that also helps a bit ..
but sound like your dong sumthing wrong .. or you have a 150W HPS in a small closed with no air exchance/circulation ?
Take my advice !! ... I dont use it anyway ...

Jeez...really? Just move the light up...
I apologize for my incessant rambling, but if you are patient there is inner hidden wisdom in most of my posts...Like playing literary "Where's Waldo."--------------- See, it's fun!
no no .. let the light be ............ move the plants
