Default Beware Agromax grow tent HTG supply!

I bought an HTG supply Agromax grow tent back in Febuary. I have not been able to grow anything since then. They say it doesn't gas off but they are full of shit! The tent looks like it's high quality but it gasses off like a mother fucker! Having moved to a new location the only thing that is different is the humidty, water and the tent. I went back and checked all the basics. I put in a humidifer to get the humidty correct. After 3 weeks of testing my plants are still dying. They turn yellow bleach out or turn brown and become crispy critters. I even tried going as low as 100ppm-200ppm. After all this testing, I bought an RO system. I have been testing it out and no change. The plants are still dying. After spending $800 on seeds, time nutes and going crazy, I figured that the tent is off gassing. I took about 20 plants out and moved them out of the tent. The plants that are out of the tent are recovering nicely. The plants I left in the tent are almost to the point they wont be able to recover. Don't buy an Agromax tent! I don't know if they all do this but the one I have does for sure! They say they don't off gas but they do and I'm pissed about it!

If anyone is using one of these with or without problems please chime in!

Seems strange that they would still be in business with a tent that gasses off.I would also like to hear more 'cause I just bought one and it's in the process of being shipped to me Was yours the newer model with the window?

Well I think the reason is because people blame themselves. I did. I triple checked everything. I only have two plants that I didnt put in the tent at all and they are 2 feet tall. I didnt even give those plants barely any light, only ambient light. All the plants in the tent are dying. I lost about 20 plants in total and I have never had that happen before. i thought it was my water supply, but it's not. Once the plants are out of the tent they do fine. Let me know if you start having problems all of a sudden. The plants start out looking like they have a mag def, giving them magnesium helps but then they just burn up for no reason. I never have plants burning up at 150ppm.

This is the one I have.

Good morning. So got some updating to do. Im going to be looking at a house to buy this saturday so im hoping all goes well with this place and then ill be going full throttle. I do plan on going full speed at the safe spot. just built a 6 x 6 room with the 1k in there and buying another 1k this weekend for that area. Just to give u all a heads up dont buy a tent brand called AGROMAX. They off gas like a mother fucker. But since ive built that room with the boys they are bouncing back real nice."
Good mroning everyone. So I was dealing with a heavy off gassing issue with our tent (agromax) so the ladies took a big hit from it. But on the good side of things we tore the tent down and set up shop right in the room. They have bounced back real nice and are chugging along. Once I get my comp back up and runnin cause it crashed ill upload pics of before during and after the off gassing issue. If I can figure out how to upload to here via mobile I will do so.

I thought this thread was strange. This guy was growing, then once he got his Agromax tent, poof no more posts. His plants look like mine do in the tent pic. He's probably still going nuts trying to figure out whats wrong.

Don't get me wrong, the tent is well made and is very sturdy. However if it off gassing, that makes it worthless. I'll post pics of my plants never entering the tent. My set of plants day 4 in the tent and a set that was in for 15 days. I'll post them later on today because I'm too tired.

Is there a way to test and prove it's off gassing?

What did HTG say when you called and inquired?
Have a great one. Advice is for folks with a legal grow and worth what you paid for it.

I should have just went with Secret Jardin.

Without Phthalates: Secret Jardin products have a 95% reflective hammered effect Mylar layer which acts as a barrier against toxins (phthalates). Some products use thick layers of PVC as a reflective layer. These can spread toxins in the tent. For Secret Jardin products they use a very thin layer of PVC to bond the Mylar to the fabric. They use a high-temperature fabric manufacturing process which removes the toxins. Their products are qualified and their raw materials are routinely tested in accredited laboratories (EPA8061 standard) to guarantee there are no phthalates or other toxins that may be harmful to plants.

I wonder if there is a way to remove the Phthalates in the Agromax tent and make it useable again. I might try putting it in the back yard under direct sunlight for the rest of summer. Since I can't afford another tent right now I might sell some things to buy a Secret Jardin.

I'd like to hear from someone else who has an Agromax tent and is experiencing weird yellowing, browning and or light bleaching. Or from someone who is not having any problems to compare model versions.

You realize that you posted the same guy complaining about his tent on multiple different forums? Aside from the 2010 post that didn't state brand name...

I have a sneaky suspicion it wasn't the tent. Many growers use those tents with no ill effect. You sure you weren't just frying your plants with high temps?

Off-gassing occurred with the really old white rubberized plastic tents - I've never heard of a single case of off-gassing with a mylar tent.

Interestingly my Secret Jardin 4x4 stank of plasticizer for the first four weeks of its setup. I had to run an ozone generator to unstink the whole house. But after the month-ish, it stopped stinking. I'm gratified to learn that they don't use phthalates, but they use something that smells awful similar. cn

All of my three tents stank real good for the first few weeks. Didn't harm my plants one bit though.
