    Default Advice Please

The ladies have been in the new setup for 9 days and I'm finally getting fed up with the burned tips etc.

    24 hours of light

    1000w HPS & 1000w MH (Aircooled 15" from plants)

    Air Temp 79.5 (constant)

    RH 37-43

Well water PH 8.6 PPM 250 from the tap

PH 5.8-6.2 (rises appr. 1.0 a day and is corrected every morning)

PPM 1150 (DNF Gro A+B, DNF Black, Hydrothrive) (PPM rising steadily as well) http://www.dutchnutrientformula.com/...gro_bloom.html

Water Temp 74 (working on cooling it down)

They're in Hydroton receiving a 30 second flood every 4 hours (roots look white and healthy)

Sorry but some pics are under HPS due to the 24 hours lighting

    Hey,
I'm not an expert at all, just starting myself. 1150 seems really high for veg to me tho, and the edges of the leaves look like nute burn to me. Alot of ppl seem to feed really high levels without probs tho so idk. I fed my last grow at .8 ec during veg and it worked pretty good for me (@400 ppm on my meter). Might want to take a look at the little white spots (in the third photo) with a loup to make sure they're just dust or something like that. Someone with more experience than me will prob chime in in a bit but I would just back off on the feeding lvls. hth

What would be a more suitable PPM to aim for?
Ill dial it in from there.

well i do 500 max. right now ppm out the tap for me is 150 and then i go to about 600 and then flowering i normally hit 800-1100 depending on the plant

EDIT: what u are looking for in hydro is when u see the water level going down but the PPM/EC is staying the same. if ppm going up when water level is going down, that means to much nut and if ppm goes down alot and water level as well not enough nuts

Looks like Ca deficiency. But i see your nutrient has calcium and your water ppm isnt too low so you should be good. The only thing i can think of is maybe you have too much Mg which is causing Ca lockout. Just my guess. Maybe you can try some bottled water or RO water and add some Cal-Mag and see what happens from there or you could just add some Cal-Mag to your water now and see what happens. Calcium and Magnesium seem to be common problems for Hydro.

Ive added some Cal-Mag to the mix and reduced my ppm to 500. Heres hoping they bounce back quick.

    I am curious though...

Given the deteriorated nature of the leaves. Would it be to my advantage to do my topping now?

My thought is that the plant can focus on the new growth and the plant is rid of the damaged foliage

those plants don't look that big. 1150 ppm is probably way too high for them. my veg ppm never goes above 900-1000. no need. i would have flushed them with water for 2-3 days then started back the nutes at 600ppm. then every week try and add 150ppm till you get to 900ppm and hold steady there till you flower.

Clear improvement in the plants in the last 24 hours since i diluted the res. I recognize the oversight in the Nute levels and I'll just chalk it up to beginners mistake.

I'm still pondering the topping issue at the moment but in the mean time is there any reason I can't remove the big fan leaves that are visibly damaged or are they still benficial to the plants growth even when injured to that degree?
