upgrading to hps is absolutely w/o a doubt worth every penny. you can get everything you'll need for $500 or so.
(400w hps, cool tube reflector, high output spectrally enhanced hps bulb(its all i use for both stages, it has outperformed any other hid bulb ive tried) 4 inch inline fan for cool tube(i know the cooltube uses 6 inch tubing but all i did was just put the 6 inch tubing up against the fan and sealed it with a bit of caulk and duck tape, works great for me) 4 inch inline fan for exhaust, (side note, dont ever buy duct booster fans, they are cheaper for a reason, they lose alot of their power with even the slightest bit of resistance, like sucking it through a carbon filter or cool tube for example)4 inch carbon filter to filter the exhaust fan,
tell you what, i think it might be easier to show you what i would buy if i was starting a serious grow and where i would buy it from. now here is something to contemplate, with this setup i'd expect at least 4 oz a harvest, maybe 2 if things dont go well. 6-8 when youve got it down around here and most places an 1/8th of the stuff you'll see will be worth about $50(it will be top qaulity seedless bud since you will be killing any males), so after just 1 harvest you will at least make all your money back and most likely make a considerable "profit" in weed. here is the great part....you still have the equipment and can continue growing and it's all profit(wel, besides the small electricity cost to run it). if you can drive to one of their 4 or 5 stores you could save some good money on shipping and also be sure to email them and ask for a large order discount. they will almost certainly do so, they knocked off around $125 when i bought my first setup from them.
