Pale green/yellowing.slight curling on newest growth.detailed info is given.any help?
Hi Everyone, thanks for taking the time to take a look, it's appreciated. I'm at my wits end with this one, been growing for years and have gone through the process of trying to maintain the issue, but plants are looking about the same, not any worse or better than yesterday. I've included many pics, to help with any diagnosis. I'll be checking regularly to answer any question any might have. Thanks again!
How long has this problem been going on? noticed newest growth becoming pale green 3 to 4 days ago, new growth also had a bit of taco curl, claw as well (the claw has subsided a bit), initially thought nute lock so I flushed with PH'd well water, fed immediately light feeding 300-400pm all purpose, next morning looked good, like they were bouncing back, 6pm started to see more signs of the pale green over entire plants, blue dream still had claw taco leaves, other strains started to as well, no burnt tips of leaves, very little to no drooping, agent orange are growing tall with very little outer growth (bushiness), headband is the most stunted, i have lady bugs throughout and see no signs of pests, i regret feeding at all initially as the sanctuary soil i'm sure had plenty to keep them going. They were under 1 1000w MH until about a week ago, then put them under 2 1000w HPS. I'm stumped, usually i nave been able to diagnose issues relatively soon but I haven't seen such a uniform pale green before.
What STRAIN are you growing? blue dream, sour d, headband, agent orange, chem 4, purple diesel, strawberry cough, super sour OG, super silver haze
What was the establishing technique? (seed or clone?) clone
What is the age of your plants? 2 weeks into soil from clone
How long have they been in the soil mixture they are in now? 2 weeks
Were they in the same mixture when they were seedlings/smaller plant? If not, what mixture were they in before? same mixture, sanctuary soil empire builder
How Tall are the plants?10-14"
What PHASE (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in?veg
What Technique are you using? (SOG, SCROG etc) technique not yet established, plants will be going outside and topped at 16-24"
What size pots are you using? (Include how many subjects to pot) 1 gallon
What substrate/medium are you using? What brand of soil mixture are you using?(percentage of perlite, vermiculite...etc?) empire builder by sanctuary soil
What brand Nutrient's are you using? very low dosages of maxsea 16-16-16 all purpose, pro tekt, rapid start by GH, cal mag… did foliar spray of just microbial compost tea (vitalatea)
How much of each nutrient are you using with how much water? *Knowing the brand is very helpful*
How often are you feeding? fed under half strength after flush, ppm was about 300-400
What order are you mixing your nutrients? (example: veg nutes 1st, bloom 2nd ect)
pro tekt-maxsea-rapid start-cal mag- PH down
What is the TDS/EC/PPM of your nutrients used? 300-400
What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"? 6.7
How often are you testing pH/ppm/EC/TDS? every watering
What method of pH test was administered? Using Strips? pH pen? blue lab combo meter
How often are you watering? every 3-4 days, when the top 1.5 to 2 inches of soil are dry
When was your last feeding and how often are you feeding? 3 days ago, after flush… only second feeding, both extremely low dosage
What size bulb are you using? 2x 1000w HPS
How old is your bulbs? 1 year
What is the distance to the canopy? 24-32"
What is your RH Factor? (Relative Humidity) 30-50%
What is the canopy temperature? 67-74
What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include fluctuation range) night (55-62) day (65-72)
What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.) an abundance of natural air flowing through room, leave both doors cracked for natural air to flow through (I live in the woods so light leak isn't an issue)
Is the fan blowing directly at plants? No, fan is in room moving air, air purifier on 24/7, natural air moving through room consistently, hardening off plants
Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist? more or less, yes
Is your water HARD or SOFT? well water at 6.3-6.4, 40-50 ppm
Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched? No
Have any pest chemicals been used? If so what and when? no
Are plant's infected with pest's? no
They just look a bit low on nutes, try increasing the dose a little and wait a few days for results. If the pictures were taken around watering time then that might explain the drooping. They look quite healthy, just a bit hungry.
I would disagree, they look to me like an over dose of calcium. some of the leaves seem to be 'Hooking" they also have deep cravas structure in the water leaves. If you are using tap water you may want to use a "hard water nute" if you added CaliMag I would stop the use of that until you need it! otherwise they look great! Good luck and keep us posted.
wow, thanks for the great info. I had the idea that there might be an issue with my well water, the PH is 6.3-6.4, and the ppm is 50. would an abundance of calcium in the water still keep the ppm relatively low? thx again
I thought about this also, but being that the soil is so rich, I would assume that there sould be enough at only 2 weeks to keep them going, although I could be wrong!

Mg & Ca - This is usually added in equal parts as one can cancel out the other. Go easy if u add Mg as too much will interfere with other nutes. Mg is best absorbed at PH 6.5 so it could be a case of increasing ur PH a little. You would usually see Mg def in the 4/5th week so I doubt it. Expect it soon tho if using very (too) soft water (which is why it needs to be buffered for ur nutes) A little all the time so don't go crazy. EC 0.2 / 100 ppm ? before adding nutes.
Good luck !!
I believe the to much Calcium would be hard to spot in ppm. I had the same problem and went to a pool suppl shop and got test strips that show Calcuim, clorine etc. thats how I was able to come to that conclusion. My fix was as easy as getting Flora Micro Hard Water nutes. Although I run hydro, Plants are plants and they looked just like yours. A sign of under watering would be real droopy plants and they dont look droopy to me. When the leaves hook, that is a calcium problem.
The EC of the soil is written on the bag. Unless it is a very rich mix, mine is EC 0.8- 1.2 and needs additional food at 2 weeks.
